With this video, we wanted to represent the relationship between Edward IV and his eldest daughter, Elizabeth of York. It was kind of a challenge : they don’t share a lot of scenes together in The White Queen and, in The White Princess, the story mainly focuses on Lizzie’s relationship with Richard/Perkin. But, surprisingly, we’ve found out there were so many things to say about them. When we first watched The White Princess, we failed to understand Lizzie’s character. As Yorkist, we thought that all she did was breaking our poor little hearts in two (this damn last episode…). But, in the end, Lizzie put an end to the war of the roses and, through her children, the monarchy kept some York blood. This video is full of symbolism for our goal was to show you the parallels between Elizabeth of York and her father. She did what she had to do in order to protect her children and we’re pretty sure Edward would have done the same. Despite everything, both of them were strong and fearless rulers. He would have been proud of her. We hope you will enjoy In Your Eyes. The main subject of this video ? Legacy. We started this new project a few days before the death of our mother. She used to watch our videos too. That’s why this one is really special for us.

‘You saved our lives when I was four’, so perfect, because it’s true.

So my analysis today will rather not include so many references to scenes, because you have told yourself; they do not have too many scenes in common (big minus for scriptwriters), but I will focus on selecting the song itself to Elizabeth and Edward 1. "For many years, I've tried to make it better But the air was cold, and you didn't know how to swim A thousand drops of water try to take us And they still haunt me, they haunt me in my dreams" The first scenes are shown in the context of Elizabeth herself, who was already Henry's wife. Its character can be boldly compared to that of Edward when he first reigned. He tried to find an understanding and unite England, not by force, but by his favor and mercy. He tried to be like this for everyone, but marriage made his family relations even more complicated and his efforts were pointless, no one appreciated them. That's what his daughter was trying to do; on the one hand, she wanted to please Henry, on the other, to protect her loved ones from York. Unfortunately, one side has always felt cheated. That's what Edward and Elizabeth of York had to deal with. And attention! I saw a message, symbolike, and I think an attentive viewer will notice it too. 0:45 - 0:46 We see Elizabeth coming back by boat and looking at someone at the top of the tower. Then we have a scene where Edward stands on a similar tower and looks down; you can understand that on Elizabeth. He looks back on his past, but also on his daughter's actions, which are no different from his. They both wanted good, but didn't know how to do it. He watches over her even though he's long dead. He protects her from enemies he failed to get rid of while he was alive and now it's Lizzie who has to deal with them. So we can understand that Edward is a guardian angel for his beloved daughter. 2. "You saved our lives when I was four And whispered words in the sunlight You showed us different scars across your hand It was early in the morning When you kept the tears from falling" And this part has just the right scenes! Edward lost his throne when Elizabeth was 4 years old. At that time, he was trying his best to protect his family, because they were in mortal danger. And as we all know, he did it. "And whispered words in the sunlight" symbolic words until Edward walks in the golden sun in rich, gold-coloured clothes. This is not so much a reference to the scene as to the reign of Edward himself, which we can call the reign of the "Sun of York". His children grew up in the sunlight; not only of his light, but a sunlight of Sons of York. Edward showed the children how strong he was, despite many injuries from his loved ones. He was strong for them. 1:14-1:15 "It was early in the morning When you kept the tears from falling" just then he showed how strong he was for his children, without shed a tear, although he knew that he will soon close his eyes forever. 3. "From your eyes From your eyes I can see it in your eyes In your eyes" Surprisingly, but I have the same opinion as you. I think Elizabeth saw her father not only in the eyes of Prince Richard, her brother, but also Arthur, who reminds me a little of the goodness of Yorks. 4. "You and I are 'bout to enter our last and only trial Feel the bittersweet creation" I think this is the best place to show them! I mean, the trial of George and his death wasn't really different from that of Richard and Edward. Edward and Elizabeth were in the same place, they had the same goal; to protect their family, their children. As we both know, they were both remorseful, but they thought it was necessary. 5. "I'm grounded to the sky And I keep you close like a summer rose, my childhood in your eyes So climb with me back to the roof and show me different stars" A passage about Elizabeth's inner tear, but we might as well relate it to Edward. Elizabeth wanted Richard with her because she knew it was her brother and she had a lot of childhood memories with him. She didn't want to hurt him. She wanted peace, but security for her children mostly. Edward and George shared the same feelings. And the words "summer rose" do not only refer to the time of their youth and when their relationship was best, but also that they bear the same name - York. 6. "All the songs you have forgotten are about to come alive When the old becomes the new, I save them deep within my heart All the endless themes like fallen trees are saying their goodbyes" At first glance, somebody would think it was really about the songs. But the meaning is much deeper, because it is about people who, for some reasons, are no longer in our lives, but have been part of our lives and hearts We remember them. And at some point the old songs become relevant, because we see the same character traits, look in other people 7. "You remember when you told us 'bout the day you lost your hand The reason you stopped playing, you passed the dream onto your child And now I'm playing for you, I can see again the past" A remarkable summary of Elizabeth's position compared to that of her father. This time she is his successor, York on the throne. The situation in which Edward was repeatedly and passed down to Elizabeth. Now Elizabeth "plays" like her father and to his memory, wanting to make him proud. _________________ And yet I found many symbolic moments that I wanted to mention now. 1. 00:00 - 00:32 The figure of Richard and Elizabeth, intertwined with scenes from their past. A symbol of past years. 2. 2:21 - "When the old becomes the new, I save them deep within my heart" We see the Tudors are taking down the white rose of York. It is a symbol of the fact that Elizabeth does not forget her old days and dead relatives, but hides them deep in her heart. She misses them. 3. 2:23 - to around 2:32 Elizabeth claims to be her parents' daughter: to be a daughter of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. In the background, we hear "I need you by my side" which is a clear understanding that Lizzie, despite her father's death, still needs him, she has him in her memory, she hasn't forgotten whose daughter she is and how wonderful man he was for his subjects. She believes he's still watching over her. 4. 2:38 to around 2:59 A great comparison I never thought of before! Elizabeth remembers how much her father wanted a better kingdom not only for her, but also for the little Prince of Wales, Edward. Unfortunately, her father died too quickly and did not ensure their safety. Elizabeth doesn't want to repeat the mistake. She wants to eliminate the enemies her father failed to make. She wants safety for his son and will do everything Edward couldn't do. To provide a better future. 5. 3:05 - 3:08 The chess spectra that are scattered around the chessboard, so the heralded fall of several people. Edward, among others. Edward "stops playing" and his dreams after a while are passed down to Elizabeth and Richard. They wanted the trone just like their father. Elizabeth starts a new game with old and new players on chessboard. 6. 3:13 We see a father and daughter pulling down the crown, which can be a sign of the burden, the responsibility they bear. But it is also the connection between their two characters; for they must face many people and their own feelings. 7. 3:18 - 3:24 Richard and Elizabeth don't just see each other as a common future. They also see their parents in each other. The princess realizes that if Richard does not agree to her terms, she will have to hurt part of her father, whose character and appearance her brother has in himself. 8. 3:25 - 3:30 A beautiful, but sad comparison. We see the court of York, where the king is radiant, children too all in glory sunlight. All are surrounded by riches. We can also see the Tudor court, where the royal couple is not smiling. Everything is done for show. 9. 3:30 - till the end We see a lonely Elizabeth, who knows that she most likely carries the future heir to the throne in her womb and that's all needs from her. She knows that York's golden time is over and now she's "playing", but she must do it better than her father. She is in worst place. We also see the solar eclipse, which is a farewell to old life. ________ I love how much you care about symbolism because I think it adds charm and magic to your work. I'm not going to talk about technical things anymore because you are amazing at it. Well done! I will back here everyday ❤ !!! Ok 😂 Beacuse I watched again and I noticed something more. In fragment "The reason you stopped playing, you passed the dream onto your child" is not only about dreams of the throne, which passed down to Elizabeth and Richard. The scene is a Elizabeth's nightmare, while Richard sitting on the throne. Nightmares are during sleep, while we dream about good and bad things, second one we called nightmares. So to Elizabeth passed a nightmares either about danger to her loves one. However, we can understand nightmares like out bad feelings, which had Richard in the end. And one more think! Around 2:56, we can Richard during execution of Warwick. Before it we see a scenes while Elizabeth looks at Arthur and Edward, who saying to the child "I will keep you safe". Lizzie doesn't want to keep such a safe to her child and waiting for that he will end his life like a Richard: in unknown coffin, with no family name and run all his life. Now 😂I believe it is end.

Beau travail !!😍

MARTIN Charlotte Merci beaucoup !
