We ended up with all 5 of our IVF embryos being female (2 were healthy and 3 were not viable). I had a successful pregnancy with my 1st, and the 2nd is currently awaiting a future try! The early gender reveal is controversial with some of our family, but testing upped my chances of becoming pregnant, saving potential heartache as 3 out of 5 embryos would not have resulted in any pregnancy, or a full term pregnancy. I am so grateful for this medical science! And as many people have asked ... if we had ended up with both male and female embryos, we would not have chosen the gender for ourselves.
I did my own research and noticed that places where there was a larger consumption of potatoes had a high amount of boys! 😳 Now it might be a coincidence but it's one crazy coincidence since I did this with over 100 countries. I also did it with the USA, and 10 out of the 12 highest boy ratios states consume high amounts of potatoes compared to other states. 🤔
Good information. We waited for over 8 years of marriage to try and grow our family. We prayed about it and had sex after ovulation testing and my cervical mucus was most fertile. Thankfully we have a baby boy on the way, which was our preference. The Lord knows the intent of your heart. Good luck to everyone TTC.
We did PGT because I was 40 at the time of our retrieval. So to look for aneuploidy. Miraculously out of the 3 eggs we got, 2 fertilized and were BOTH euploid blasts. We chose to not know the gender at the time of transfer and just waited for our NIPT results. I wanted something to feel "normal" lol. That said, I obviously would have been happy either way. I happen to be the oldest of 6 siblings the rest of whom are boys. Of the 3 grandchildren born before I got pregnant ALL of them are boys. All I ever wanted was a sister. It was time for our family to get a girl. And yes, my baby WAS the one to break that 41 year streak lol.
I read recently that there was a study conducted that showed that the autoimmune response of some pregnant people can prevent them from conceiving a boy or carrying a boy to full term. I will try to find the study and post it below.
Iam from india, here all peoples are thinking only boy baby's are pride they don't want to have girl baby... If we don't have bot baby means they treat us in different way...😢😢
In Belgium and most European countries gender selection with IVF is only allowed for medical reasons, it's interesting it is allowed in other countries. I always wondered about the gender myths and was half believing the myth about the faster male sperm. 😅 Thank you for the interesting debunking!
@saramohammedi7073, you can not select gender with IUI. It is basically putting the sperm into the uterus, which gives the body a better chance of conceiving. It isn't making embryos outside of the body like IVF.
In Europe sex selection during ivf is illegal. I have two boys and hope for a girl next time, but I still wouldn't do genetic testing and would love a boy all the same
I'm pretty sure it is like that, I was 100% I was going to have a boy, my husband has a brother, his brother has 2 boys, his dad has 5 brothers and one sister, and lo and behold I am expecting a baby boy ... absolutely no surprise
not an expert so take with a grain of salt but it's probably possible, but I would suggest that everyone remember that having several girls in a row doesn't change the chance of getting another girl. it's 50/50 everytime, so landing on the same side over and over again is bound to happen in some cases.
@@13myrrh there is some truth to that. Female sperm last longer so if you have sex a day or so before ovulation there are more of the female sperm that survive long enough to implant, if that makes sense.
Sometimes science cannot explain everything just yet, just like whether x or y sperm will be chosen by the egg. Don't get me wrong, i believe in science, but nature is very special :)
Ok I'm surprised you didn't mention the thought that if a woman has an orgasm during sex it's more likely to be a boy. I haven't seen anything on this myself but a friend who is a pharmacist said she had seen studies suggesting it held water and it seemed to work for her getting a girl. Obviously though there's always that 50/50 chance of getting a girl anyways but I'm surprised this isn't one you've heard/ covered.
When people talk about men having a weak or strong Y chromosome is that just a running joke? Or is there any truth in that, my husbands family has all boys, and all the boys had boys lol and my family has almost all girls, my dad and his brothers all have only girls. Are some men more likely to have one or the other? 😊
There can be trends down the male side ie if grandpa (the dad's dad) had 6 girls 1 boy, then it's possible a girl will be more likely with the dad if that's the strong family history. Or example: Grandpa has 9 sisters, then has 3 girls and 1 son of his own, using this theory his son would be slightly more likely to have a girl over a boy. But really it's 50% every time. Also there have been studies that those using infertility treatments are very slightly (like 5-10%) more likely to have a boy.
My uncle had 4 girls 1 boy, all his daughters have boys first before girl. 2 of the girls have boys than 1 girl each and the other 2 only has boys. I think in a way it is in the gens.
I respectfully disagree on #2. Real life as opposed to an IVF specialist might not be your way, but my many children based on the fact that male sperm swim faster, so if you are ovulating right now they will get to the egg faster and the female sperm swim slower but have endurance means you are more likely to have a girl as the male sperm have died off. I am not saying this is absolute, but I am saying I tracked this for myself and found it reliable. Yes actually picking a female out of a Petri dish is the for sure way. Most people can’t afford this and most insurance does not cover IVF. I’m not sure why you write this off as a “myth”
Because they're doctors and practice based on actual scientific data and not anecdotal evidence. Imagine if doctors prescribed medicine based on how their cousins' wife's roommate reacted to the medicine. Is that what you want?
Did you miss the part where they talked about IUI and how that proved Shettles wrong? Plus, it's not about what sperm is the fastest. We now know that the egg doesn't open up at the first sperm reaching it but rather waits until there is a lot of sperm surrounding it before it lets one of them in 🤷🏼♀️😇
As a farmer, i have a question. Sex selected semen is a regular part of our breeding program for cattle. I find it odd that it doesn't work with humans?
I think the difference is that with humans it would be considered eugenics and thus unethical.. With cattle it's "animal husbandry". We definitely have the technology to predict a lot of things when it comes with our genetics, we just don't.
Doctors, is it true that sperm that ends up being a male is faster and lives shorter as opposed to a female sperm which is slower and tends to live longer? I've read a study somewhere that looked retrospectively into families, and these were their findings.
@@johnboy2436 he is literally asking the makers of the video a question that is covered in the video. Maybe try using your brain to think before typing such a dumb comment.
@@janinedear-barlow And you should do your research before replying with a dumb comment. As stated in my previous comment, do research. There is a meta study proving it to be true. AGAIN One video doesnt explain EVERYTHING. Ahh i do love the RU-vid comment section full of people with single digit IQ's that clearly cant read.
The first two are not a myth but the logic behind it is a bit off. It's not that Y carrying sperm are fast - x carrying sperm live longer (Rahman 2020). So if you have sex 2-3 days before ovulation it increases your chance of having a girl.
We had sex 1 day before ovulation and had our oldest daughter. 2 days before ovulation, our middle daughter. The day of ovulation, our youngest daughter. 3 days before ovulation and we had our oldest son. Shettles didn't really work for our first 4 kids.
Thank you for the great explanation Doctors we appreciate it, so in a nutshell IVF is the only way you can select the sex of the child and i think it will be more expensive 😕😔
What is the point of sperm-sorting technologies like Microsort, if they don't work for even sex selection? Also, can you provide a link to the IUI study?
I came to notice that most boys are born about 9 months after summer and girls are born about 9 months after winter meaning that sex after a winter may lead a girl and sex after summer may lead to a boy. Temperature also affect X and Y chromosomes in men in such a way that after one month of summer a man has more Y chromosomes and after one month of winter a man has more X chromosomes. Check in your country and see if that pattern is there. Also if the man has more brothers he may give you a boy easily and with more sisters he may give you a girl easily. this thing also runs in families. Men don't have equal numbers of X and Y sperms. Note those things as you try ovulation method. Some families have curses that prevent people from getting a particular gender, for both of you check your relationships with your parents. And finally remember that children are a heritage from the Lord. It is God who selects gender after all things have been done. You may try those methods with a prayer. Whether a boy or a girl accept them, bless them, pray for them and bring them up to your best.
I would like to know about the genetics thay run in the family and how would that be related to the baby's sex. I know is 50/50 chance but my husband's family is mostly males, we had a healthy baby boy but I wonder if baby #2 is intended to be a boy too
I appreciate this video. We are going to start trying to conceive for our first baby in January 2025. My grandmother was just telling me all about how to get a girl or a boy with one of the myths you covered 😅
Broooo I never wanted kids I did the nasty one time while I was intoxicated and got pregnant 🤦 I am 28 weeks pregnant and I absolutely cannot wait for it to be over
So relieved seeing doctors also suffering because of little germ monsters 😂 so human and makes me think there was no way I could avoid it- before I became immortal and am not bothered by any of it anymore 😁 thank you!
Yep, can you picture her rolling her eyes back and just screaming with joy in bed? You, or anyone, can make a woman turn into a wild animal in bed, by reading the stuff in Merle Winestol's guide (try go’ogling it).
Another method I heard was true: using an acid or basic rinse before conception to help the the relevant sperm to survive and make it to the egg. I know if a few ladies that tried it and they got the gender they wanted. Again, I don’t know if it was just coincidence. 😊
I think this is disgusting. Get your "dreams" out of your head and accept what you get. People who hope beyond hope on one gender over another just adds to gender disappointment on an innocent child. shm.
@@x.snipermask.x4116 Yeah. Like, if I were trying for a baby, I would prefer having a girl. But if I had a boy, I'd be fine with it, I'd love him just as much and treat him just as well. And if I had twins, there's a pretty good chance that I'd end up with both anyway.
There are " Myths" if you will, about there being more than two genders and that is what's disturbing . You two are adorable . I watched because I love hearing about the myths. Such as if you are carrying a baby high or low it determines the sex of a child. The reproductive system has always interest me and I'm still in awe about how women can develop a human inside of their bodies. I'm a mom and grandma and it flips me out every time . I wanted to be a midwife, but my math skills said, nope. Therefore, I graduated to " Baby Whisperer." Thanks for sharing !
@@Rosetta-gp9mk chromosomally, sex can be more complicated than XX and XY, so there aren’t just two. But even if there were, gender is not the same thing as sex.
not proven scientifically and even science cannot defeat God baby's gender is God's divine assignment, more important is for a healthy normal baby regardless of gender, simply accept and love it is your own flesh and blood...once delivered with sweat and tears, then just love the baby it is uniqely yours
Strange to include god and then talk about accepting the baby how it is lol religious people love to alienate their children as soon as they make choices contrary to what they would have done.
so the solution is to kill the other embryos - what a nice solution (sarcasm). Thanks for the mythbusting but advising ivf in that case altough you said it is controversial is not cool.
What happens to all the babies that are conceived and are not "selected?" Obviously they die (or are frozen and would most likely eventually die?) I don't understand how we can justify killing babies for IVF.
If I remember correctly we all start out female but males develop when exposed to more testosterone in utero. So would it not make sense then to inject testosterone into the mother to create a boy?
