This is a great idea, but there's a problem with it. Say you're a salesperson and make 15,000 dollars this week. You don't close any sales the next week and instead of being 0.5% better you're more than 100% worse because you have substantial expenses with no money coming in for that week. Or say you're a construction worker and make 72,000. After taxes it's 53,000 or 1019 a week. Because of inflation you're making less than a year ago though you''re a more experienced and better skilled. If you improved your take home pay 0.5% a week you'd be taking home over 1400 a week in about a year, which would be great. However your employer already thinks you're making too much money which is the journeyman standard. You keep checking the want ads and figure you're lucky to be where you're at.
