Most of that gear was super old Soviet stuff. The tanks (T 54s from the 1950's) and multi-barrel rocket launchers ("Stalin Organs") certainly were. I can't imagine that the Taliban have a day's worth of viable ammunition for them.

Field artillery are just as important today as they were 100 years ago. You just need to look at the current conflict in Ukraine to see that. We make the mistake to think they are not as important because the conflicts fought in recent years have been of counter insurgent nature and tend to see less field artillery because insurgents usually do not have access to the artillery or the ability to maintain the artillery.
