The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during Ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but she was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1900 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 6 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all her guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at her) her armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and she disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's excellent armor, and that Bismarck had been scuttled by her crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on her, only 114 survived. The old man seen in the video is the son of the last survivor, who died in 2018, 1 year before this song was released
@@gryphonosiris2577 Sure, Displacement weight 50,000 tons, armor weight 19,000 tons. Which is 38 % not 4 %.. Yamato class were slightly lighter armored at 33%.
Lady every band would be flattered with those compliments and empathy by you . And funny expressions ! From the beginning your smile breaks the camera . Enjoy the Music !
Great reaction :) and welcome down the Sabaton rabbithole! As you probably know by now they base all their music (except their first album ) around historical events or battles. Bismark was a WWII German battleship that after it sunk the british battleship HMS Hood were hunted down by pretty much the rest of the British fleet and sank during a battle on 27th of May in 1941. Out of 2065 sailors only 115 survived. One of them is the young sailor depicted in the video and the compass that he carries with him is the same compass (with the cordinates engraved in it) that are shown in the beginning of the video in the hands of his son. You really should check out their latest song Soldier of Heaven and if you want another epic performance, check out En Livstid i Krig (Live 2020 in Gothenburg, and turn on CC 'cause it's in swedish )
Great reaction Schnell! Sabaton is awesome! You should definitely check out “Uprising”, “Ghost Division” and “40 to 1” live from Woodstock and “Swedish Pagans” live from Wacken. Also music videos for their newer songs “Soldier of Heaven” and “Defense of Moscow” and also “Carolus Rex” are really good as well. They have so many great songs that I could go on and on… but these are great starters. 👍🏻
Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock. Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world. I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control (Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it) also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them :D
If you want great vocals and solos check out the Lost Battalion, Art of War, the Royal Guard, Defence of Moscow, Steel Commanders, and Carlous Rex. Sabaton are modern-day Bards and should be mandatory in all schools they're live performances will leave you speechless. P.S Primo Victoria and The Winged Hussars
Funny. I'm part of a writing community, and one of our members has a "modern day character brought to fantasy universe" plot going. And I volunteered a character that would go in and perform bardcore songs - and some of his favorites are from Sabaton.
Hello from Montreal. I suggest you react to "No Bullets Fly (animated story video)" from Sabaton. Be sure to watch it from beginning to end as there is a Canadian connection in there. 😁
The memorabilia in the office and the compass belonged to the last survivor of the Bismarck - he died 1 year before this vid released. The fishing boat skipper is his son...
You saw the pocket watch in the sailor from bismarchs hand and the same one in the hand of the old man. He is a child of one of the survivors from Bismarch. And Sabaton of course let him play with in the video 👍😎
So if you’re loving Sabaton, the next one of theirs you need to do a reaction to is their No Bullets Fly Animated Story video. It covers the song, as well as giving you some of the context before and after to what the story is about. It is a great song about an incredible story, it will be an emotional roller coaster and I promise you it’ll be worth it. Watch it with subtitles on, and make sure you don’t stop early (there’s a couple of points it looks like it’s over, but actually isn’t).
Great reaction, for a few good live videos "Swedish Pagans" (Vikings) Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 "The Last Stand" (Swiss Guard 1527 Sack of Rome) is another good 1, honestly you can't go wrong with any of there songs. and their "Sabaton History Channel" on youtube is very helpful if you don't know the history of the topic they are singing about.
Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game. You can see more of the Bismarck in their mini documentary too called Naval Legends. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7K9BJhlt0zo.html
This is an awesome song !!!! . You did an amazing reaction to this song. Well done girl 👌. Sabaton makes history learning so fun and cool. Where were these guys...when I was in school learning history. My favorite band is always been IRON MAIDEN. Those guys pioneered ...sing songs about history and introduced Power Metal and Symphonic Metal. You should react to Sabatons ....No bullets Fly the animated video. Watch the whole video till the end. You will be surprised and stunned. Thank you for such a great reaction. Take care and stay safe 🙏🌹❤️🤟🤟
