HOLY CRAPPP! Thats my brother! We were on a New Orleans trip and that guy travels around with his piano. He asked my brother if he plays and my brother hopped on. I tried to find this 4 years ago, and cant believe he and I found it just recently! Were from the Twin Cities and my brother is now writing scores for plays in the twin cities as well as a piano teacher.

This young man's name is Nick Wilson. He is now 20 years old and will be attending the McNally Smith School of Music in the fall. He has gone on to compose many pieces on his own and you can search on youtube for many of the videos that have been posted, most notably, his 2012 senior recital which was a 15 minute medley of Coldplay pieces all done from memory. He has big plans to compose music, in fact he wrote the background music for one of the plays in last summer's Fringe Festival in Minneapolis. He was a four-year member on Snare Drum for the Eagan High School Winter Drumline. It is wonderful to see all the positive comments and we will link more recent performances from him to this site soon.

wow, ok, I am not perfect of course, but it saddens me to see negative comments here!The boy is 14, and is playing on the street, so it's not like he put himself in a position of being judged on his playing, just playing for fun.And also I would like to point out, that to my knowledge, this boy did NOT say himself that he is good, others did. With all the anger, judgment, and hatred in the world already, can't we just appreciate his playing and enjoy?

glad to hear it keep 'em coming yr musical imagination runs much the same way mine does glad to hear you were able to make a real investment in yours relistening to this while reading yr reply, yr music reminds me of a friend & neighbor in my college dorms when I was a freshman eons ago, & another man who was a housemate for 2 years. Both had taught themselves to play piano, and both chose to do so without even learning the chords or theory re: how chords relate to each other. They map to the keyboard, if you will, was something that grew as their practice making it up as they went developed in each their own sense of the geometry of the keyboard. Both achieved the same flavor of free flowing improv that your sound has, tho' I'd judge you've invested more ambitious intent in your self-development than either of them wanted to when I knew them. self-teachers and their methods have always interested me, both personally, and for a while professionally. seems you might be classically trained originally & then at some point ran with it in your own directions? do you insulate yrself from outside musical influences to protect/cultivate the uniqueness of yr own style (as did my college neighbor but not my later housemate), or are you a free-range vacuum of others' compositional ideas?

I don't understand why most musicians now a days are so critical about other musicians. Why can't we just support anyone who wants to learn to play music? Even if they are a beginner who's been playing a week or they've played 30 years. Did you criticizing jackasses see that kids smile in the very beginning? You can tell he LOVES the piano and playing music. Just respect that he had the confidence to play on a random piano out in a crowded street. Cheers.

This makes me depressed that I stopped doing lessons. I had a real talent for music. I still play the piano we have, but not as much, so I've probably lost the talent. Somehow at the same time I feel inspired to take up lessons again to remember how amazing it felt to play the piano

Sorry for the langage, I'm french ^^' : The noise all around is part of the game. Street music isn't just the instruments but the environment too. It's a kind of music as well as classic music or pop. It's sure, it disturbs a bit but it's a choice ^^ (there is a nice movie about this kind of street music, it's a bit "girly" but a cool lesson about street music, it's named "Begin Again")

Piano Around the World You can't let your dog control you. Contrary to popular belief, dogs actually want an alpha. Alphas provide protection and direction. I would suggest looking into some training. It's dangerous for a dog to control the owner.

Incredible is over the line. The songs are nice, but the intensity level on them are medium at best. And if you by chance are going to comment on the intensity thing, listen to Felix Mandelssohn Op. 104a No. 2. One of the most intense songs i've heard

Its too messy, a lot of different patterns mixed up into one which is too much, pedal was waaaaaay overused. The kids good tho, still got more room for improvement! :)

***** I started piano at the age of three, composed at the age of 6, chose to be in a advanced group course in the piano school called Yamaha, Im currently at ARCT level for the Royal conservatory of music, I started performing at concerts at the age of 5. If I did not know what I was saying, I wouldn't. Obviously youre not a musician so you dont know shit. you just think anyone who plays something is good. Criticizing is a way of helping others improve. Get your info right.
