Treehouse Foundations used to give me a headache the first few days I used them. But once I got the hang of it, they became pretty much mandatory and I even started using them in some ground builds. Only downside is you'll have a hard time trying to recreate the same build if you ever need to restart in some other server or after a wipe.
I prefer getting building sets more frequently, as we do now, though the pricing is generally still an issue across the entire bazaar. The DLC system wasn't working for Conan financially though, so I get it why it changed
@@nickthompson1812 idk the DLC system wasn't really overpriced in my eyes. $10/£8.99 for a building set, armor, weapons, pet skins and sometimes placeables was a decent deal. I'd say the only exception was probably Riddle of Steel
After 48 hours they let me back without "'a pardon''. We paid for the incomplete ''Aesir set'' a long time and now they have completed the set and asked for more money for it to be "fully built", what a nice technique to chop a building set to half and charge double for it.
They did dirty with not just the prices of the bazaar, but with how many coins can you buy with one transaction and how do they compare to the bazaar prices. For example, this set and the battle pass summed is just slightly more than the second lowest amount of coins you can buy. So you have to buy 5k, and you'll have almost half of it as leftovers. Then in the future, you'll do 1-2 additional purchases, and the last several hundred will be good for nothing in itself, so you'll have to buy again. And from then, the cycle repeats itself.
I think Funcom are learning how to do building sets on the bazaar. What i mean by that isn't how to make sets but rather how they will be received by the community and how well they sell. I think they started out small to test the waters and I am hoping that in the future they develop and sell them as complete sets. But i understand them starting small and testing community response.
As somebody that bought this set and plays PVP, I’m happy with the majority of the set, except a couple things. There is NO curved crenelated fences or anti-climb for the whole set. I’m still able to make the set work after a lot of tweaking on single player but it results in having to build extremely straight and use none of the rounded tiles…. I’m not up in arms about this, but as I’m just returning it did leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and I’m defiantly going to be more careful in buying sets in the future. I would like to personally see them add the curved anti-climb and a curved foundation for the bottoms of towers. Great video as always. The set is well done minus the two things I pointed out. :)
Yeah I would have quite liked fence foundations just for the flexibility, though I don't think it's the end of the world given that gates are now a bit easier to place, and with the Pillar & Ceiling method
No corner, T or 4 way junction roof "crown" pieces, no anti climbing fences or fence foundations. The roof panel to cap transfer piece is a nice addition. FunCom needs to have a standard build palette and an expansion palette. It feels incomplete compared to other build sets.
I was disappointed to see i had to buy same set i alrdy own again to get those new building pieces. But im now happy to see i got it at least cheaper price than those who dont own set at all.
I agree with your assessment of both the set AND the sketchy billing. I've found that they go REALLY well with Nemedian as interior walls. I also built my tavern with reinforced stone and insulated wood in a split build. I have already switched out the insulated wood pieces for Aesir and it has improved the look. I agree, and also hope this 'here's a new set... Oh, and now an extension for it' does not become a standard. What I would like to see is more colorful and multi-use pieces added to the vanilla sets. Like the arcane stuff that was added. I use the hell out of the wall trim to break up walls that have no character.
I definitely wouldn't mind more colourful or extravagant pieces in the future, especially if we ever get to Vendhyan or Acheronian. I didn't actually think of using the Arcane pieces to break up this set, it'd probably work really well
@@Eradicati0nn I haven't tried it with the Aesir yet, but I do use it in a lot of builds. I'm not as skilled as you but I do like to play around with it.
I'm playing The Age of War, Chapter 3, as a Yamatai Samurai on the Isle of Siptah, and with the fact that it looks like Funcom is coming out with a Yamatai bar set and pieces, I was wondering if you have any build videos on samurai-inspired taven builds.
I hope the new dungeon one will come soon, and that they fix the crom coin bug I filed a report 3 days ago and no response yet about 5000 coins in the void that I plan to use on the dungeon set to build a underground sewer and basement level.
I think the dungeon set is probably about two weeks away, at least just by guessing where it'll end up Hopefully Zendesk are wading through the tickets, I suspect there's quite a lot of them given the scale of the problem, but they should be a bit quicker on the uptick. Hopefully they fix your issue soon!
@@Eradicati0nn hi mate, I would like to inform you that I got a reply and the coins are returned. From my understanding it is now fixed for all players by form of a backend change.
@@markvt22 I'm glad to hear it! Yeah there was a backend fix last week I think, then a rolling deployment that seemed to fic a majority of issues. Glad everything is back to normal :)
While I enjoyed your vid I can't justify the cost. I'm retired on a fixed income and can't justify spending $26.49 for 2640 crom coins, then spending 1540 for this set leaving me with 1100 coins. Not even enough to cover the Battle Pass at 1200 coins. I just wish Funcom would make this a DLC that could be purchased on it's own. I've been watching your EBA builds and they're helping me to learn the tricks of the trade, so to speak. Keep up the great work! Regards.
So wait, if I already have the Aesir set, I will still have to buy the extension, same as Stormglass? Wow. No. Under any other circumstance I would probably think about it, but after how they rolled out the update, no more money from me.
It doesn't matter how pretty they are, the price is just too high for me. That's comparable to a month subscription to the average streaming service or video game. If I gotta choose between 30 days of ganks in Jita or two months of Timcast and a dozen cosmetic blocks I'll likely only use once or twice, I think it's pretty easy to see where my money is better spent.
That's a fair point tbh. Had I bought it with my own money, I most likely would have got more than enough usage out of it given how much I play, but that might not be the case for others.
I for one love the basic wood look. I find that the other wood sets don't have that basic lumber look to them and look to fancy. I can imagine buildings made by pioneers of the old west looking like this, except for the upside down crescent moon of course.
It's definitely growing on me, I do like the more detailed wood styles of ins. wood, frontier interior etc, but there's quite a few times where I've wanted something more simple
i really like the look of this set but i do feel that the lighter color of the pieces does clash with most other build sets making it hard to mix and match between sets. if the wood was a bit darker it would work much better with all other sets.
I don't like how much I like this set. It blends well with a couple existing sets. It has that lovely window sloped roof that joins to the rooftop pieces. Something long desired. I wonder of this expansion was unplanned. If it was greenlit after they saw how sales of the base Aesir set went. Regardless, ot eould be nice of the pricing issue mentioend was addressed. While I would prefer not to buy the sets piecemeal, adding the extra cost for early purchasers really disincentivizes acquiring new sets when they first come out, which is not a good way to generate revenue.
Ceiling Corners, is there a trick to get the curved walls to snap below the Ceiling corners. Example place a foundation then ceiling corner. I can snap a wall corner to the top but not the bottom to create that Curved wall/foundation look.
I don't think that's currently possible unfortunately. Myself & Barden found a workaround to construct a pillar and ceiling baseplate starting from a curved piece that sits just on the ground level and then build up from there though, that might work
Wish It blended better with the pictish dlc my favorite combo is arena and pictish but got sick of the spiked roofs so i got this to go with my setup but it clashes so bad
It does, though I've noticed a couple of instances where it's very finicky, namely with Insulated Wood I think, though it's never been perfect. Aesir & Turanian frames have always worked a bit better because of how thin they are
One of the difficulties I have to deal with is when incorporating triangular tile's due to lack of overhanging vaulted structures or when trying to incorporate complex flying buttresses. I wish there were more 30 degree or equilateral tile inclined choices for buttresses and truss work.
I believe so, the devs said they'd fixed the rolling nature of the issue so there should be no new erroneous bans, it's just a matter of fixing those that are still banned or missing coins
I really don't like the color of this set. The unique parts are interesting but IMO it's too bright and clean. The details are washed out. IMO the parts need a secondary color or maybe just a little dirt.
Yeah I kinda agree with that. Up close I think they're fine, but at a distance they do get very monotonous, even muddy to a degree. A little something just to make it pop a bit more would have been the perfect addition
Thx Mate, helpful material, you convinced me to buy it, especially since I don't have the previous part of the set, so I will pay less for the whole set.
Guys I need help. Does anyone know of a quicker way to get a lot of eggs for cooking other than picking them up one at a time out of a shaleback nest that has a max of 3 per nest or hitting a shoebill with a hatchet? I would appreciate some help seems like it's taking forever
It can be a little tricky, but you can harvest the eggs with picks, axes, and pickaxes to yield more depending on the quality of the tool. At least this works on the ostrich egg nests near The Summoning Place. I haven't tried on shaleback or croc eggs. If you have the double harvest on last hit perk, you will rack up eggs quickly.
As said before me, using tools on eggs gives you way more. It's tricky to get the right angle and sometimes it's like they don't have a hitbox at all. That said with a little practice it's really easy to stack more eggs than you'll ever use.
Very weak video, praising this set but not mentioning nothing about the problems with fortress corners, as you can't pu tthem on foundations. In a proper review you should mention that, as people rarely build their base on a completely flat surface
If you watched the initial video of the release of this set, it was brought up there. If you can't do anything with this set, that's on you. Learn to be creative
Those issues were mentioned in the review of the first bundle, which included the fortress corners. This video covers the extension, which does not include the fortress pieces
@@Eradicati0nn well, they are selling the whole set, so one sentence, that this wasn't fixed should have been in there. I haven't built with the new pieces yet, but will do that, but the fort set also has texture box issues, as does pyranid, nemedian and even stormglass. So if you call your video a review and the only critique is the color scheme, I think something is missing.
