Ofcourse We are Tanzania..Kiswahili is one of the national treasure English is mostly used in high formal learning institutions only. but outside the class kiswahili is the way to go ..If you go to france you better learn some french, if you go russia you better learn some russian if you go to spain you better learn some spanish and the list goes on...the same applies to Tanzania

Not correct to say Tanzanians HATE English, not being fluent in English is the problem, but Tanzanians love English, very low paid people struggle to send their children to English medium schools. It’s just that there’s no point in speaking English when 9.5 out of 10 around you speak Kiswahili. Plus historically Tanzania was not as much mentally colonized as some of the African countries.

People can speak english but when you speak to them they often turn their backs on you. As if you are disturbing them. Question is how do visitors communicate ?

They don't hate English.. they just made Swahili their identity... While in kenya we dont have a common identity. We tend to identify using our ethnic background.. am a proud Borana you might be a proud kikuyu etc .. while in Tanzania you will find majority of the people speaking Swahili as their firts language and not their tribal language

@@Perfectafrika There's nothing they could do. Learning a language is an individual choice, the least they could do is to convince more African countries to introduce Swahili as a subject in highschools..

Tanzanians don't hate English, they learn English but they don't embrace it. They are just like Ethiopians, EU and Asian countries where English is not their first or official language. You better speak French if you want to visit or live in Paris, if you speak only English you will be lost in France. You better speak Germany if you want to live and work in Germany and Austria. You can't get a Norwegian resident permit if you don't speak Norwegian. By the way, many developed countries don't embrace English, I have never heard Xi Jinping or Vladimir Putin speak English so why would Africans be proud of English? EU and Asian countries are proud of their languages but Africans are proud of English. I say, Africans should learn foreign languages but they should also be proud of their culture because language is one of the most important parts of any culture. No wonder we are still backward continent because of mental slavery, some Africans have decided to think of themselves as cousins of King Charles III.

Can Tanzania do more to help Africans speak English

@@PerfectafrikaWhat I believe is that you must be good at a foreign language in order to teach Swahili in that foreign country. That’s why Kenya is taking the lead in this regard. So it’s mostly Kenyan kind of Swahili being spread out there 😅

@@Perfectafrika The British used English and religion to better colonize us and better divide us-the brainwashing was a success as some people use English fluency as a yardstick for measuring one’s development and civilization, sad. However they invested a lot to realize this. Tanzania has to invest a lot in this. Train or recruit a good number of Tanzanians that can speak and write good English to go and teach Kiswahili inside and outside Tanzania. People don’t tell me we are already doing that, we all hear the kind of English spoken by us ex universities ☹️

@@Perfectafrika The good thing about having a common language is easy communication, instead of several tribal languages. Having said that the tribal languages make it easy to create tribalism and favour your own ground than a nation. This is a big problem in most African countries. Our fast president saw this and implemented it for all Tanzanians to learn and speak Swahili. He introduced classes "under the tree" for the elderly for the whole country. During his time as a leader, his main focus was making all Tanzanians one, not multiple groups caused by tribalism.
