Hrithik Roshan (who played Arjun) and Farhan Akhtar (who played Imran) are childhood friends in real life. This movie is directed by Zoya Akhtar, the sister of Farhan. Their father Javed Akhtar is a famous song lyricist and poet, and all the poetry in this movie was written by him.
I'm so impressed with the way you all are willing to give movies outside of your comfort zone a shot. Your reaction was everything. I love that you explore movies from other cultures and walks of life. You never box yourselves in when it comes to what you'll react to. Great work!
Some context: at 11:11, the girl says her name is Laila and Imran replies his friends call him Majnu, that basically means that the girl says her name is Juliet and the guy's nickname is Romeo, since both Laila and Majnu and Romeo and Juliet have the same cultural implications in different cultures.
The director-writer of this movie is Zoya Akhtar, the Imran actor Farhan Akhtar's sister and Farhan Akhtar himself wrote the dialogues for the movie..its so impressive that a woman made this classic movie about male bonding and friendships..infact Zoya Akhtar is one of the best writer-directors in India hands down...there isn't a single movie that she has done that isnt absolutely amazing
If you liked this, you should probably give Dil Chahta Hai a watch. Another buddy movie you'll love. A little trivia: Dil Chahta Hai (2001) is a coming-of-age bromance film directed by Farhan Akhtar, the guy that plays Imran in ZNMD and the director of ZNMD is the sister of Farhan Akhtar.
Hats off to you guys for trying a totally different type of film. I grew up Scottish so love my Hollywood action but having Asian parents grew up with Bollywood movies, then went onto king fu action as well as trying all sorts of movies from all corners of the earth
Thoroughly enjoyed your reactions, just as always. "Yeh jawaani hai deewani" is another such wonderful movie highlighting friendship and y'all will get the holi reference too.
Sooooo happy you enjoyed this! This is one of my favorite movies of all time! Another great Hindi movie to watch is „Kahaani“ (released in 2012) it’s a completely different genre and vibe than this one but it is also very good and I would love to see a reaction from you guys!
Hrithik Roshan's movies you should definitely watch :- 1)War (A movie from Spy Universe) 2)Super 30 3)Agneepath (2012) 4)Lakshya 5)Guzaarish 6)Jodha Akbar 7)Koi mil gaya 8)Krrish (Sequel to Koi mil gaya) 9)Vikram Vedha (2022 Hindi Remake) 10)Kaabil 11)Bang Bang
I obviously loved the reaction, had a lot of fun. I also really loved the discussion part. This is one of my all time favs and one of those movies that I re-watch every few years and every single time it's just as good as the last time. Thank you for giving this movie a chance. This is probably my fav. reaction to this movie ever.
Best simple movie.. With complete entertainment.. Comedy, drama, dance everything in it... 10 out of 10... And you guys encouraged me to watch it again.. Thanks... Lots of love ❤
I have seen this movie many of times, including some reaction videos, but it was a new experience with the three of you! Looking forward to many more such reactions...
As a bollywood fan, i totally love your reactions. The fact that you keep the scene long enough is a big yes for me to subscribe to this channel. Cheers to you guys
Please watch Gangs of Wasseypur 1& 2. This duology is the best crime/drama gangster movie Bollywood have ever made. The director also said it was inspired from City Of God (🇧🇷). So, I felt like recommending this.
'Layla & Majnu' are like 'Romeo Juliet' in indian cinema, the very reason why Arjun and Kabir crack up when Imran introduces himself to Layla and says friends call him Majnu
1:04:51 Here , the answer regret for his 4.75 opinion He eventually wrote this opinion for Grab Cool attention that I won't pay direct 5 attention to anything but at last the oak wrote 5 he Fell so much regret why i don't wrote 5 ..
Also something that is interesting about the film and the actors- 1. In the song Senorita, the actors have sung their own parts. 2. Hrithik Roshan, who's character Arjun, has a fear of the ocean, is actually a certified diver in real life. 3. Farhan Akhtar, who's character Imran, is afraid of sky diving, is actually a certified skydiver in real life. 4. The director, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar (Imran) are siblings. 5. Zoya and Farhan's father Javed Akhtar has written all the poetry that we see coming from Imran. 6. When the movie was being shot, it wasnt the time for tomatina, so the aithorities gave them the access to the street where tomatina is celebrated for a five day shoot. The filmakers imported tonnes of tomatoes from Portugal to recreate the tomatina. And they went back during the actual tomatona festival and shot some scenes during the festival.
@@arshad-zaidi Well a chunk of India's population lives under below the poverty line. Also a lot of us are middle class. You underestimate just how much of us can afford to travel. That won't make any difference.
I want to travel Spain not because of this movie but because of Spanish movies which I loved a lot. But agree, this movie is a really great movie and it did make Indians aware of Spain.
Never thought i'd see this thumbnail on this channel but from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for giving yourself the chance to explore my childhood nostalgia. This movie is not just 3 friends on an exotic foreign trip. It's about family, friendship and self love. I am pretty sure Dave would've enjoyed this a lot.❤
@@shilparaj2129an you read and comprehend sentences in English? OP said "Indian cinema wouldn't have been ready for this movie in the 90s" and NOT "this movie was made in the 90s"
So funfact, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar who played the feuding friends Arjun and Imraan are actually childhood friends because both their parents were film industry people. Infact Farhan Akhtar is an amazing director-writer-singer and he has made two of the best Bollywood movies of the last two decades in my opinion, one of them his 2nd movie Lakhsya was starring Hrithik Roshan and it made both of them stars.
I absolutely loved you guys' (especially Oak's) reaction when Laila and Arjun kissed. 🥰 Some Bollywood movie suggestions: Uri, Sardar Udham, Barfi, Fashion, The Sky Is Pink, Mary Kom, Sanam Teri Kasam, Ek Villain (2014), Aashiqui 2, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Bajirao Mastani. Hrithik Roshan's must watch movies: Mission Kashmir Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish Lakshya Dhoom 2 Jodhaa Akbar Guzaarish Agneepath War Bang Bang Kaabil Super 30 Vikram Vedha 😁
So this is a pleasant surprise. Please react to these next, you'll absolutely love them: - Andhadhun (An Incredible Thriller about a blind pianist getting mixed up in a murder). - Bajrangi Bhaijaan (an emotional roller coaster about a mute Pakistani girl who gets lost in India), - Dangal (great sports drama biopic), - PK (a comedy that talks about superstition in religion)
ZNMD is considered to be the last of the "male bonding" trilogy movies produced by Farhan Akhtar. The first one was "Dil Chahta Hai" which had Farhan debuting as a director and starred Amir Khan, and the second one was "Rock On", where I believe he debuted as an actor. The common theme in all three revolves around close friendships that go through a serious break up and make amends in the end. If you are looking for another movie directed by Zoya Akhtar, "Dil Dhadakne Do" is a good watch..
It's not much of a "Farhan Akhtar movie" if the story is written by Zoya and Reema Kagti, and directed by Zoya. Farhan did write the dialogues and put money in the movie tho.
No way!! I dont watch many Bollywood movies but this one is my favourite and I didnt expect you to cover one of my favourite movies of all time! So happy!
Well this is proof that good writing, good story and a good performance never goes unappreciated and always transcends borders. ZNMD has long been my favourite movie and I am so happy that you guys loved it as well❤
Loved the reaction, especially praise for Katrina Kaif's phenomenal performance. Please put Kapoor & sons, since 1921 to react next on your list. It's really incredible.
@@myidiocyatmyfinest I also like her as an actress. I admit that she's not my favorite, but I certainly don't think she's as bad as a lot of people say. She gets way too much hate for it and she doesn't deserve it
@@Rithik_Kapoor I agree. I personally think her best movie so far is Jab Tak Hai Jaan. I know some people didn’t like her in that, but I thought she did a great job with what she was given
Good to see that you guys enjoyed this movie. This is one of those feel good movies which I recommend everyone to watch. Dil Dhadakne Do is another movie from the same director. Personally, I believe Dil Dhadakne Do is not as good as ZNMD but you should definitely give it a try.
Imran (Farhan Akhtar) is also an amazing director! He actually directed a film in 2004 that established Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) as an actor than just a pretty face.
IIMO MS Dhoni is not a great movie to recommend to someone who doesn't know anything about cricket. Dangal explains a little bit about wrestling, BMB is about a runner so not much to explain in there, but MSD just expects the viewers to be aware of what's going on. Cricket is a very complex game to understand for laymen & hence the movie won't be as enjoyable for non-Indians or anyone who doesn't at least know the basics of the sport.
I love this film, and I loved seeing you guys react to it...made me remember how blown away I was the first time I had watched it. Looking for more Indian film reactions from y'all!
Love the way you guys are giving chance to so many movies and not judging them by from where they come from but how they are made….started watching your harry potter videos and love the way you analysed each movie at the end …and now seeing you watching some of the indian movies i was very excited to watch those reaction ….Recomendation movie - My Name is Khan
Just to make one clarification, when Imran's father said "not really", the translation was incorrect..what he actually said was "i thought it would be best not to" (go looking for him, since he already had a father figure in his life)...the father wasn't as hurtful as the translation showed...
The predestined speech was just a drunk man's speech it was supposed to be kinda hilarious, sometimes men get philosophical when drunk but he loved the trip experience too much
Great reaction, guys! I had such a good time with you 😆 I would love to see your reaction to Bhansali movies like "Bajirao Mastani", "Gangubai Kathiawadi", "Padmaavat" ...
At this point, all the comments have told you everything you need to know. But another aspect of this film is widely praised, is how non-macho and non-toxic their friendship is in the film. Male friendships in Indian cinema before Dil Chahta Hai, 3 idiots, and this film, involved being sexist and doused in toxic masculinity. All three films, Dil Chahta Hai, 3 idiots, and this, the first being directed by the guy playing Imraan in this film, are very beautiful and tender look at male friendships, real and emotional. These three films tackled the often unspoken moments of male friendships, and i have personally seen it change dynamics of male friendships in India. Having grown up as a kid, then a teen for these films, we are grateful for the films which showed men as human beings and not emotionless demigods. Also some of the humor of this film have become cultural identities onto themselves. Bagwati is replicated everywhere as a funny joke, the car scene with Natasha has seen thousands of memes spawned from it, plus the organic way the humor flows in the film makes it that much more hilarious and relatable
This was a great review of this movie. I felt everything you guys described. Like you were there too. I have watched this movie so many times. It lifts me up to address my issues and get on with enjoying life. Thanks guys.😂😂❤❤
Holi is fun. We play with colours (safe ones) and smear it on faces or use water mixed with colors in water guns or ballons. Have a drink or two and eat sweets. It's fun festival along with diwali
The movie is directed by Zoya Akhtar Farhan Akhtar's (the one who plays Imran) sister and the guy who plays Arjun is Hrithik Roshan he is a great actor Imraan and Arjun are also real life buddies you must react to Lakshay directed by Farhan Akhtar (Imraan) staring Hrithik Roshan (Arjun) it's a wonderful movie
You guys should watch "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" next...it has similar vibes to this movie and its about friendships and drifting away from friends and coming back together and finding themselves...one of my go to comfort movies
