Everything looks wonderful as always! Farming is such a fantastic life. And all food is so much better when you grow it yourself. I have someone coming tomorrow to buy 28 rabbits and 25 chicks. You are right Dexter. Just leave them alone even they’re of different sizes. The parents can take care of them. I have parakeets too one couple have 11 chicks of different sizes and they all lived and survived

what we do here in the uk is we swap each egg everyday with a plastic egg until the last egg is laid then when the last egg is laid we remove all the plastic eggs and put back all the eggs, we do this so all the eggs will incubated for the same amount of time so they all hatch at the same time resulting in all the chicks growing at the same time.

Hello Dexter, In Australia the wild parakeets fly in huge numbers. In a natural habitat the smaller birds do not usually survivors, has the bigger chicks eventually kick them out of the nest. A natural setting is best, in a more quite place so they can concentrate on breeding. We use to raise budgies, and we we had a mix, and fed the small ones by an eyedropper, and survived. It was time consuming, but successful. Are you getting any more ostriches ?

Try to plant some sunflower and kalabasa in your farm. They will look beautiful. Then dry the seeds to make food supplements for the birds. They are high in fat content.

When you build the waterfall for the Koi pond I have a suggestion...The waterfall makes the surface move a lot which makes seeing the Koi difficult. Also when DOC levels get high the falls can create foam on on the surface which looks bad. These 2 issues are solved by creating a catch basin the falls go into and there are holes at the bottom of the basin water is pushed out of moving water at the pond bottom out and toward the surface for better gas exchange so it's like a free extra pump. It can also help push dirt toward a bottom drain. Any foam generated will stay in the basin and can be collected (a protein skimmer). The basin contains wave action so the pond surface remains still.

as a breeder before of parakeets, based on my experience. yes it happens its natures way of living and surviving. for I just let them be. Some will die, some will be nurse by the parents. some will not foster if you try to put it in another nest. Just let them be.. If you really want them to survive my suggestion is make separate small cage for pairs of parakeets. the big aviary will just be the holding area and really where they meet their partners. then catch them transfer to a single cage. most important place the nest box near the upper part of the cage.

no need to foster po if malaki naman nest tapos unli foods. nest ko is 8x8inches square and 10x8inches.,., kaya ng parents 7-9chyx hehe... pero po when it comes to fostering hindi kumikilala ng anak parakeets so ideal dn yung teknik na pgsasamahin yung same sizes yan talaga ginagawa most bird keepers.. pero more work yun sa pg segregate haha
