Winner of Miss Heilala Talent - Miss Leiola - Brittne Mahealani Tupouvakataupule Fuimaono from Honolulu, Hawaii performing at Miss Heilala Talent Nite 🔥 Queen Salote Memorial Hall, Kingdom of Tonga. 9th July, 2015.
Such an amazing performer, so graceful yet so beautiful. She is a stunning example of Polynesian beauty! She should compete in Miss South Pacific. ☺️ go Miss Leiola. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I really enjoyed your Polynesian Medley. Well done on such an awesome performance. Loved that you are so graceful and especially that your smile is consistent throughout. Fa'afetai Lava & Malo 'Aupito.
Miss Leiola-Brittne the gentleness and beauty that you posses is astounding and incredible . You should win for the next 8 years!!!! if I was the judge you would be my princess and my queen. You go girl !
Such a outstanding performer with a fantastic performance. No matter what elsewhere in the world, someone has a big inspiration to do something very special and showcasing our cultures to the world. Wishing her all the best for this year's Miss South Pacific .. Congratulations and Greetings from New Zealand!! #wowfactor
I thought that was portrayed beautifully! - from the beginning with a graceful entry and the momentum picked up as she went through the various country performances. Yes, Ive seen better talent, like this performed in the past, but no denying she nailed each country cultural dance brilliantly, afterall I understand she ended up winning the whole thing..well enough said - Many best wishes Brittne at Ms Pacific 2015 in my homeland, the Cook Islands!!
Tessi Tolutau came to Samoa for the Miss South Pacific where I was involved in organising through Samoa tourism. She was friendly and I was fortunate to talk with her. She did the same series of South Pacific dances and I think she did it far better. Loved her and wish her all the best!
Beautiful girl... Just wondering if she got permission from the Dalire 'ohana to use that snippet of their Merrie Monarch performance as her "hula" portion? Interesting take, but in my personal opinion Miss Heilala should epitomize the Tongan culture.
I think we do our pagents better than how Samoans do theirs in terms of talent, dance, showing off body, interviews, e.t.c, no hate Samoans you guys still rock
Just like Miss Makamaile from NZ she copied the Jungle Leolani studio dancing but who cares Its not about copying others moves its about how they do it and how they perform it aaand this Miss diid it how its done especially that flexible part in Hawaiian part its very difficult to do it.. And the fire dancing oooh its very risky maan.. Youre very talented Brittne..
Originality? She's half Samoan, half Tongan, living in Hawaii and dances the dances of Polynesia as her occupation. She's representing everything that she is. I don't know how that's not original? She's incorporating all aspects of her life. Hawaii is basically the melting pot of Polynesians. Her talent reflects that perfectly.
Jack Johnson that's great that she is and does all of those things. Again, we're judging her choice of item for the talent show, not herself as a person. There have been many contestants before her that have chosen this sort of item, the quick-change medley of 3 or 4 different Polynesian dances-in-1 (for example: Tessi Toluta'u did few years ago, and Sina before that.) In my opinion, the 1st part of her dance, the Hawaiian part, was the BEST part of her whole number. Had that been her whole dance, that would've stood out more. thanx for your response!
Completely agree with you! I know you said her Hawaiian part was the best part of her performance. Look up Keolalaulani Hopoe at Merrie Monarch '95- she completely took the audio and even part of the choreography from them. So shame. Beautiful girl, but her talent was not original.
***** That's exactly what I said. Same sort of thing we've seen for the past almost 10 years. Too bad the Tongan judges don't seem to have appreciation for the qualities of creativity and originality. I absolutely loved the talent of Miss Apraxus NZ. Complete originality and it actually had meaning! Thanks for your comment, I'm glad SOMEONE agrees with me.
macknmango I question how the judging concluded with Miss Leiola winning overall. She has the physical beauty but I highly doubt she won hands down over the other contestants. Her interview was, by far, not the best, she faulted a couple of times during the tau'olunga, her island creation was extremely overshadowed by other contestants and THIS 'talent' segment (and I use the term 'talent' loosely) was a bore to watch. This competition has turned into a popularity contest. It belittles the value of the other contestants and perhaps discourage future Tongan women to participate.
Could not have said it better myself. Miss Heilala should epitomize the young Tongan woman of virtue, character, and intelligence to say the least. I agree with you, it's more of a popularity contest now. Shame.
She is beautiful..but shouldn't won the miss Heilala..ONLY IN TONGA the judges didn't comply the with the criteria. They just picked the pretty face and end up somewhere at Miss South Pacific..MUST BE TONGAN..bad interview etc..
