Hi guys, I built a portable console using an old pc keyboard and lever joystick. You can drop all the video games of the past such as playstation, nes, snes, mame, sega genesis, game boy and all the consoles of the past with a cost of only 20 €. Just have a smartphone and install the emulators and then connect this special Jostick and you can play infinity

Not really, if you are in fixing things most of those materials are readily available to you. Sure you won't be able to meet the quality of his project, but an old broken arcade joysticks, pc keyboards, otg connectors, a phone holder and some pieces of wood and metal will be lying around your lab.

I'm a big believer in re-using old components, however... They sell joystick "kits" that include the stick, buttons, a USB board, and cables for connecting everything. You still need to build a case, but everything else just plugs in.

Yeah but those joysick kits just came from old keyboard ics aswell.
@lurkerrekrul
@lurkerrekrul 2 года назад
@@euvo_sound You mean they use the same chips, or that the ICs were literally taken from old keyboards? Either way, I'm not aware of any of them identifying themselves as keyboards when plugged in.

Awesome workbench setup! I love the Socket A and at least one Slot A mainboards! This video is an inspiration to make my own arcade pad, but I would probably use the guts of an XBOX compatible controller. Your homemade jigs and tools also give me some ideas for my own projects.

DUDE, I LOVE YOU! Without this video I would have thought to make a controller using maybe arduino or something similar. Now I see he possibility to use either keyboard or gutted controller to make a own custom one. Now I need to think how to make it bluetooth and rechargeable. Been dreaming up a phone case controller with controlled angle. Imagine a 3ds without bottom screen and 2 embedded analog sticks. That is my goal.

For 11.99 on eBay you can buy a usb to arcade joystick kit , it includes all the buttons and a really good arcade stick, it’s plug and play , you just need to mount it to a piece of scrap wood , this seems like loads of work to achieve the same thing , I’ve built arcade machines for less than 70.00 uk pounds using parts from China

That was a really cool build. I've had a great idea to match but don't have the resources. Essentially it's using two fighter pilot joysticks[for like ace combat or something] side by side one for left and right hands each . So as to completely change the way pvp gaming is played. In games like Call of duty,pubg, even destiny anything involving shooting . Give a more hands on control as opposed to using your finger tips and thumbs to do everything

Soldering iron, solder wire, flux and thin wires are the only tools that you need, really. I've made my own DIY stick for PC from Quantum PC gamepad. 😁 Soldering on PCB is hard for a noob like us and you might give up as well but come back at it another day and you'll get to know how to do it. It'll give you an immense sense of achievement Neeraj. #delhiteHere ;)

I would appreciate learning more about your soldering technique, it looks like after the terminals were "sanded" you applied something yellowish from that clear tube and then you applied some new solder material before actually soldering the wires. However it looked like you just applied the solder across the last few contacts all at same time by just applying heat across them with a rolling technique. I took a soldering class years ago but I don't recall if this was covered. I feel like soldering often makes me hesitate starting cool projects like this
@madmerlyn
@madmerlyn Год назад
the yellowish stuff is flux. Flux inhibits oxidation, and in when done liberally as he did there it prevents the solder from sticking to anything that isn't conductive. It's basically a shortcut to tin the pads effectively without blobs shorting between them. The spray he put on afterwards was to remove the excess flux, though you do want to leave a little flux behind to protect the joints.

What a lovely device this arcade joystick. A very fine construction made of a used keyboard, something so cheap. What must have been more expensive were the buttons and the control handle, but it's still a product we don't see selling anywhere. Very good!
@SumeaBizarro
@SumeaBizarro 2 года назад
The parts used were a little cheaper than genuine "brand name" arcade parts so not cheap not expensive, the parts still were probably 30-40usd.
@PONTOCRITICO
@PONTOCRITICO 2 года назад
@@SumeaBizarro He made this joystick with leftovers. The other necessary components, on the other day, you can't have it for free. The most interesting thing is that he did to suit the phones that run emulators, including a support to keep the phone in view. I've never seen such a control to sell and to be honest I hate surfing mobile phones because I do not like touch /screen systems so for me the creation of it was very useful.

Mounting of that sanwa is bit off, usually you use something to recess them or get shorter shaft version of a joystick if the build for size restrictions has to be like this, though, those are not easier to come by and it all comes down to taste, some liking it when the joystick "feels longer" - though it is just an illusion even for normal mount. Edit: Yeah it is not even a sanwa just a design-a-like probably from cheaper source, which is entirely fine for these types of things.
