INCREDIBLE SOUNDS at the Churnet Valley Spring Steam Gala as the locomotives TACKLE the Steep climb

This video features the 2024 Churnet Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala.
There were four operational steam locomotives, 2 x S160 from the home fleet and two visitors, No. 75014 'Braveheart' and No. 4079 'Pendennis Castle' which as can be seen was not in the best of health.
All four can be seen tackling the steep climb to Ipstones with INCREDIBLE sounds.
So please turn up the volume and enjoy these fantastic locomotives being challenging 1 in 40 gradient.

Great Video John the Castle sounded great they just need to fix the steam leak and the Double S160s just wow. I was at the West Somerset Railway this weekend

Great footage as expected John. They must have sorted out 4079 overnight as she wasnt blowing badly on Sunday. For a 4MT Braveheart did well on the climb despite the slip. I did all hand held apart from Apesford ...... didnt want to lose my tripod ...again!!lol. Regards, Brian.

A very enjoyable video John. A great shame about the leaks on the Castle, not improved since its visits to the Worth Valley and East Lancs. Sure sounds good though

Austin, The sound from the Castle was awesome but the visuals were disappointing but luckily I had launched the drone. The climb to Ipstones is sensational. Regards, John

The cross country hst now with colas is taking over the colas 70 loco as its replacement for the Severn valley railway diesel gala event and there’s another colas rail loco coming but nothings confirmed

Goodness, 4079 is getting worse and worse. It looks like an engine on its last legs. Why doesn't Didcot swallow their pride and ask Tyseley for advice on how to make them steam tight?

You raise a good point as the Saint when on the SVR was also quite leaky. Furthermore both the Earl and Clun are always steam tight. Thanks for watching and for your comment. Regards, John
