Thank you! All the credit goes to my buddy! He had both trucks ready to go, and parts ordered right away so we weren’t waiting on anything, and he managed it all without his wife knowing. It couldn’t have gone any better.
My father had 69 Ford F250 2wd 4 speed granny 1st was orange on top, and white on the bottom, roof was white also. He sold that truck used with about 250k miles on it still the original clutch for what he paid new for in 1969 in the early 90's miss that truck, and my Dad.
This was pretty emotional for me. I miss my 72 F-100 4WD, "Verde Mae" dearly. My wife loved to drive her, my daughters both learned to drive in her, no pwr steering and that NP435 transmission.
i got a hell of a deal on a 70 high boy for 250 bucks with no engine ranger with tool box on side good clean body full chrome trim rust free dana 60/80 lockers then picked up a good running 390 for 100 bucks the interior is in good condition good dash pad a bench seat no cracks or rips 3 fuel tanks from factory good clean tail gate then got a free 70 motor home for extra parts if needed
@@Rustwrangler right now i am finishing my 68 chevy pu with a stroke 454 and 02xx trans next is a 79 z28 rs t top with 2 extra z28's for parts with a 454 t-10 trans got all for free the high boy i just work on it on the side
The happiness his wife showed was priceless. His quiet demeanor about her birthday present is a True Man’s attitude. Hats off to her husband. Great job & fantastic present to a lady that appreciates how great this gift really is. 👍👍👍
Love old patina truck with clean chassis and freshened interior, nicely done. Show more detail if your up to it, try and keep neighbors barking dog off sound track, looking forward to more projects 👍
Awesome Work! Her reaction was priceless, lucky Woman! I did a body swap from a 76 highboy-to a 74, alot of work, then the 74 body started going south so I found a sweet 78 to put on the 76 chassis. Odd part was the front cab mounts and rad support took a ton more of shimming to line up the body, which was odd, but it's a looker now!
That is odd about the body mounts, I was worried about the mounts on this truck as well, due to the fact the new mounts for this application seemed to be hard to find, but it worked out.
Awesome job. Great editing. Ratio of working and taking was spot on. The only thing that is wrong is it’s not my truck. That ladies reaction was priceless. I reward and watch her reaction like six times.
Nice work. Rare 67 ranger...and black with red and black interior is super desirable. Too bad it lost its original bed somewhere along the way...and even worse the original 67 only radio went away in favor of a 68 and later radio being hacked in. Sounds like the 352 purrs!
Amazing job, especially given the time frame! What a good friend! I learned to drive a stick in my dad's 1972 he bought new. Couldn't stall that granny 1st gear.
On some Ford highboys under your carpet on the floor board, they had rubber floor boots with sealer around the shifters to protect the floor from weather coming in the cab between the carpet and the floor
I’m definitely not a Ford guy but I do love fords older high boy trucks for sure along with the older broncos!! My dad had a 1978 high boy back when I was in school!!! We used to take it out at 2:00am to deliver the Sunday newspaper in the country!! That sure is a beautiful truck and definitely a well done project also!!! She definitely was so excited also to see her new truck!!! Awesome video buddy!!!!
I’m definitely a Chevy guy myself, so I know exactly where you’re coming from. But a lot of my friends are ford guys, so we have a lot of fun making comments about ford vs. Chevy, but I agree, I do like these older fords, and wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a first gen bronco at some point.

I've got a birthday coming up in August. Just FYI. Awesome present and you can tell she was absolutely thrilled with it! You've got a good lady there to appreciate a old truck. How are you gonna top it next year? Glad to be a new sub
Haha, I’ll make sure I put you on the schedule for August! That’s my buddies wife, she’s definitely into the old rigs for sure! I asked him the same question, “how are you going to top that gift next year?” Haha! We’ll have to see what he can come up with.
Nice highboy conversion.....thats what I plan on doing with mine someday (I hope)....in the mean time I have a real nice auto fab 3" suspension lifted 2wd with a built FE410 and C6 along wth a rebuilt dana 60 with 31 spline axles and dana power-loc but.....sure do like the highboy ...good job 👍
That's a beautiful job that cab is so airtight if you crack the wind wing the doors are shut like brand new but change the emblems on the hood those are two-wheel drive emblems
Thank you, someone else mentioned opening a window as well to get the doors to shut better. And yes, you are correct about the emblems, my buddy is planning to take those off.
Well done! Dustin told me to look up the channel! I have to admit though, first time Ive ever seen an engine come off an auto and the flexplate stayed on the trans. haha. Nice vid! Now I need to finish my 67 camaro, 79 bronco and foxbody!
@@Rustwrangler Oh yes, the mustang and bronco are driving, the camaro, I need to finish the new quarters, roof, panels, etc.. But I have a 671 blower for it, I cant wait. Im just in custer.
@JohnVHLife oh dang, I’ve been looking into blowers lately, I want to start messing around with superchargers for a possible future blown big block in one of my rigs. Expensive though!
Excellent work and Video! at first, I thought, I wondered how many " chocolate milking cows or Deer Hides" you had to trade for this nice solid truck. :) but more and more I see these trucks back on the road for everyday use and everyone leaves the original patina which is nice.
Thank you, since the oxidized dash bezel was in the original cab, we didn’t do anything with it, the dash in the donor cab was so much clearer and cleaner, so we stuck with that one.
Well done Sir, nicely done. It looks that pick up trucks were so simple back then, it shows at least from your knowledge on how put this ald lady together and bring it back to life again. I waas looking for a contact to ask you some questions, as I'm interested in restoring this same kind of pick up truck. 67-72 F-100 or 250. Does not have to be a car show quality, but at least a safe and reliable and decent looking inside and outside. My grand pa rode this truck and memories are so valuable when he took me fr a ride around town when I was little. I wonder if it's hard to find a truck that is restorable to a reasonable cost. Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc, what you did with this one.
Thank you very much! I would be happy to answer a few questions for you, if you’d like, you can e-mail me at Therustwrangler@gmail.com and we can connect that way.
Hey what brand of new tires are those and where did you get them from??? I used to run a set on a really nice 1981 GMC K20 that I used to have way back when I was in high school!!! I absolutely loved running those tires and also got me out a a couple really sticky situations!! Lol!! Let me no please???
Thats a case of wet underware when something that nice happens. Hoping she understands its not easy nor quick... takes a few dedicated days and hours to accomplish a nice thing like this
That highboy body was definitely not in bad shape.I mean you've destroyed the character of it. I don't understand throwing away an original body like that that isn't even really rotted.
I should have gone a little more into detail, but the metal on the front cab mounts was completely gone, there were wood blocks holding the front of the cab up.
@@RustwranglerThe main reason i think they should be lit is because that would mean you don't have tail lights either. I don't know if the tail lights went out too because i couldn't see them in the video.
I should have went a little more in depth on the issues each truck started out with, but the original highboy had a blown motor, and the cab mounts were completely rotted out, and the 2wd truck was the perfect donor for it, due to the fact it had a blown transmission, but the body and motor were in great shape.

They’re called “Samson traker”, they’re bias plies, and come out to about a 34”-35” height. I think my buddy ordered them online, but I’m not 100% sure from where.
