On March 19, 2023, we had an unforgettable whale watching experience with Dana Wharf Whale Watching and Sports Fishing. The excursion started off with a sense of anticipation as we set off from the harbor, but little did we know what incredible sights awaited us.
As we ventured out to sea, the excitement grew as we spotted a pod of playful dolphins jumping and frolicking in the water. The sight of these intelligent and social creatures in their natural habitat was a treat in itself. However, the real highlight of the day was yet to come.
After a while, the boat crew received news of some Grey Whales migrating from Mexico up to Alaska, and soon enough, the boat was on the chase. We spotted the magnificent creatures in the distance, and as we drew closer, we could see their impressive size and majestic movement through the water.
The Grey Whales were in a group of three, and they were swimming slowly, taking their time as they migrated towards their destination. We could see their distinctive mottled skin and the characteristic hump that rose from their backs as they surfaced for air.
As we watched in awe, our guide gave us a fascinating insight into the life and behavior of these amazing creatures. We learned about their feeding habits, mating rituals, and the challenges they face as they travel thousands of miles each year.
The experience of seeing these incredible animals up close was truly breathtaking, and it's something we'll never forget. The combination of the playful dolphins and the majestic Grey Whales made for a perfect day on the water, and we're so grateful to Dana Wharf Whale Watching and Sports Fishing for providing such an incredible opportunity.
