This song will always remind me of the period of time I split from my ex-wife... It was everywhere... Every time I turned on the radio, while dri ing in my truck... Idk why, but at the time, it sort of bothered me to hear it, but I wouldn't turn it off... Present day, it s part of the soundtrack that made me stronger through the divorce. It's now one of my favorite songs!
This was my favourite song for years, until I finally wore it out and 'Glitter Bomb' and 'Love In A Time of Surveillance', took its place. Absolution Calling inspires a lot of fantasy music videos in my mind.
I'm not understanding what is so difficult to understand... this is lyrically and artistically genius. This is as good as Drive ever was (better, as far as I'm concerned). Absolution is the act of forgiving someone for having done something wrong or sinful. The video shows "good" vs. "bad" within the same being. The absolution, in this case, is the act of forgiving yourself for having done wrong. The hardest thing to do is to forgive yourself, and when you do, it's an amazing feeling. In fact, absolution from within is ten times more powerful than someone else telling you you're forgiven. Just my ten cents worth. I know I am forever and always a fan of their past stuff and the way they've grown into their New Skin (pun intended)
I like the way you see it. From what I've heard, I feel a sense of peaceful surrender in their new EP. A nice direction to transition too from If Not Now, When.
I agree, it transitions well with their mentality. They aren't the same angry teenagers they were when they first started playing together. They've grown, as have I. I used to love S.C.I.E.N.C.E. But now I would rather listen to If Not Now, When. Doesn't mean the first one stinks, it's just not who I am today.
I had a near death experience a few years back, and the lyrics to this song are eerily specific to what I can remember and would be able to articulate.
@@_..-.._..-.._ The Lord Jesus Christ loves you and gave his life for you to spend eternity with him all you have to do is accept his call, die to your sins and live for the lord.
Listen. If you say something to the extent of "I am a huge Incubus fan but they are just not the same anymore" you are not a true fan. A true fan supports a band no matter what they are doing musically and appreciates the art of the band's music making.
I've always that was such a ridiculous rule "fans" like to say. Your not a true fan unless you love everything the band does? As a fan of incubus I will definitely say they are not the same anymore. Bands change and grow just as fans do. I prefer there earlier albums but can still respect the stuff they do now. I think its crazy how some people just blindly follow bands like that. Even if they don't like a song they will find any reason to convince themselves its still good. I personally thought adolescents was great. I have hope the rest of the ep might have some of that "special incubus sound" but I think this song is just boring generic radio rock. To me, Incubus always had this unique sound where guitars were a very important aspect and the lack of that is something I miss. Again, I hope the rest of the ep is better but that's just my personal opinion as a fan. I will definitely say that since dirk left it really changed this band. ACLOTM is awesome in a different way. I do miss dirk tho. Oh well!
NO YOU listen. A true FAN is someone who attaches themselves to a wall, and provide cool air for the surrounding area. I don't know about you kids today.
I'm not gunna go as far as saying I'm a 'huge' Incubus fan but every band I avidly listened to in the early 2000's I don't listen to much, if at all anymore. They've all changed for the worse for me. But this is coming from someone who thinks most music sucks nowadays. One of the few bands I listen to that didn't change their style was Breaking Benjamin but they aren't really the same to me anymore by losing key members of the band.
I am fan of Incubus 8 years ago... They have been part of my life, but personally, I expected more from this video. I feel it is a video without history. I remember the impact that I had to watch the video of Anna Molly. It was amazing! That was the Incubus I loved, but times change, and this video was shown.
Why is everyone trying to put Incubus in a single genre? and hating on the sound? Do you not realize that every album is dynamically different? its what made me fall in love to begin with. still the most amazing band around today
I first saw Incubus on tour with 311 about 20 years ago, and was - and am still - a huge fan of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Make Yourself. I sort of disconnected around Morning View, and lost track of them over the years. But this is a really solid tune, and there's obviously a ton of undeniable talent in this band. Respect.
It's like an intuition Or a feeling in the air An intangible impression That's always everywhere You bit into the apple Laid down your sword and shield Untie, a little bit dies A little each time, the medicine smiles Then spun 'round like a gyre In the unified field Inside, your elegant guide An arrow in flight, a million miles I remember feeling the opposite of falling Into the spot where we untie every knot Spinning past the ceiling absolution calling "Are you there or not?" It's an open invitation Come see the sights of sages We've been a pride of lions So afraid to leave our cages Dont' fret over the pieces That smolder in the sun Untie, a little bit dies A little each time, the medicine smiles 'Cause nothing can be broken When everything is one Inside, your elegant guide An arrow in flight, a million miles I remember feeling the opposite of falling Into the spot where we untie every knot Spinning past the ceiling absolution calling "Are you there or not?" I remember feeling the opposite of falling Into the spot where we untie every knot Spinning past the ceiling absolution calling "Are you there or not?" You bit into the apple Laid down your sword and shield Untie, a little bit dies A little each time, the medicine smiles Then spun 'round like a gyre In the unified field Inside, your elegant guide An arrow in flight, a million miles A million miles, a million miles I remember feeling the opposite of falling Into the spot where we untie every knot Spinning past the ceiling absolution calling "Are you there or not?" I remember feeling the opposite of falling Into the spot where we untie every knot Spinning past the ceiling absolution calling "Are you there?"
They are all hitting 40 now.. They can't keep making records like fungus amongus, make yourself or morning view. One thing I've always admired and loved about incubus is that they evolve with every album. I think they are fucking awesome and I can't wait to see them in A couple of months.
they cant make those albums, because they lost the funk groove. as a musician, the bass and drum kind of lead the rootwork, and ben is more of an r&b/pop rock guy. it shows in his great solo work, but dirk was a deep jazz enthusiast, and it showed as it shook everyone within the band as they played.
I've been listening to Incubus since "Let Me Tell You 'Bout Root Beer" and they honestly found a perfect middle-ground between pop and what is still incubus. Not the same funky magnificence as before but they've evolved in a beautiful way.
Incubus is incredible. Bands evolve in time and yes they become different people and make different music. Brandon Boyd is always going to rock anything that comes out of his mouth. This band is amazing and the fact that "they aren't the same" is ok with me, I like change and I like all of their albums. I am excited to see what they come out with. They are incredible artists and I can't wait until I can finally see them live.
Their Audio Engineers and Production team is TOP TIER quality professionals. Thank you for helping this STELLAR band promote their message of self discovery and LOVE.
I always felt that Incubus is never the 'same' because they love to keep discovering nee styles. Everyone has their favorite style/album. Just let them do their thing man.
C'MON PEOPLE!! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?? GROW UP! THIS SHIT IS FANTASTIC!!!! ..kids saying that they are not the old Incubus anymore weren't even born 15 years ago.. I grew up with them since 99 and I can say they are evolving! Immagine yourself playing in a band for 25 years and doing the same fucking album for the 10th time???!!!! YOU SERIOUS?
I hate when bands change and people hate it. It's an art, the artist chooses what to make of they want too, this is also simalar to the old stuff just a little more new agey/alternative. If you don't like that's fine but tell the that you miss them, change is needed if they are burnt out doing the same thing
Musicians don't make music to make everyone else happy. They do it because they like it and it makes them happy. Complaining about it won't change it:)
For me there are only 2 types of incubus songs. The ones that catch you right away the first time you hear it and the ones that grow on you the more you listen to it. This one's on the second type. i am enjoying the more i replay it.
Got it 🎉 couldn't figure it out but had to watch biasedly soooo that's how cool these knuckle heads are and what you will not see of them ever continuing not settling this is not the end of them they never aged and are not dryed out in time... They are a part of the ocean in regards to waves no one are two in the same as catcher always in search of their calling good day hip
I as a person evolved into the 30 something I am today. I'm not in high school anymore, even though it feels like it at work [high school never ends ;) ]. I don't live with my parents or in my home town. I've moved on. I've grown. Here's a shocker...so can a band! True fan here since 1997 fuckers! I can jam the shit out of Fungus Amongus and this new song. I know there's a lot of people with opinions so here is mine. Eat it. Devour that humble pie. I still have a raging boner for this band. Yeah I am a female, but I can never pass up a moment to say "I have a raging boner". Kisses to my boys in INCUBUS!
Well said pinkbutterflypoo. I actually love how every album has it's own feeling and characteristics. It'd be sooo boring if every single album sounded the same...which is another reason why they're my favorite too!
siempre incubus en cada disco a tenido un estilo diferente pero nunca pierden su esencia me encanta esta banda la sigo desde hace años y nunca me a dejado de gustar
pinkbutterflypoo gotta disagree with ya. everything from a crow left of the murder on was pretty much terrible. personally i don't really care for fungus amongus either, but that's neither here nor there.
Maybe the song and the video are horrible to Incubus old fans, but to me it's one of the best pieces I've lately have heard/seen. I didn't listen to Incubus earlier, so I'm not disappointed. And as a biker I love the historical background in the video.
Probably won't happen unless their first bassist (Dirk Lance) plays again for Incubus. He's the heart and soul of the "funky" Incubus, the S.C.I.E.N.C.E part.
This is a radio track, incubus always delivers a great full length been a fan since day one. I have seen them live four time. Every album is an evolution. If you start with fungus amungus and go to science and then go to make yourself to morning view and so on, no album is the same but a growth of the group in time.
