Building the re-designed invader cockpit for Roland Emmerich's sequel to his INDEPENDENCE DAY was both a challenge and a blast. Based on production designs, ADI's artists sculpted the interior walls in clay, molded them and created fiberglass forms to attach into the final steel-framed set. This video features the cockpit interiors being created as well as Roland Emmerich's first visit to the shop.

I never imagined how much work and man power went in to the production of a movie such as this. Great work, awesome craftsmanship.

発砲スチロールとクレイから作り上げていくこの過程は実に興味深いです! クレイから金属への変貌を遂げるディテールは圧巻🤦🏻

Great to see you guys working in clay and molding such a large piece. Most of the studios I've worked in are too scared to take on such a piece using that technique.

I was wondering who did the practical effects for the film, should have known it was ADI. Curious because I didn't see many practical aliens, did you guys create any aliens for ID2? I saw a practical foot in one shot on the mothership.

numbersnletters no they didn't if you watch the later video where they deliver it to studio you can clearly see that it's just the cockpit in a massive blue screen. They used the cockpit surrounded by CGI. Most studios nowadays use a combination of practical effects and CGI. You should watch a video called "Why CGI Sucks (Except It Doesn't)" Most CGI you never notice because when it's really good you shouldn't. It's only bad CGI that sticks out.

The one instance when the crew was working with toxic chemicals (the fiberglass moldmaking), they were wearing respirators.

The craftsmanship and artistic skill are great , but the Copied "Biomechanical" look is just too contrived. We saw that in "Alien" in 1979. Now it's time to come yup with some original ideas.

At least piece of the movie was real. But why they didn't let You take over the aliens. These walking cg ,, fluid simulations which have to move everywhere like jelly" were awful. And in the camera angles they have been shot, it would be much better with the real puppet made by You.
