In Assam it is called as " Lata Bel "..... Since fruit is like Bel and plant is like climber ( Lata) . Indigenously cultivated here in Assam

If it’s already grown in India traditionally than why so much scientific exercises? It means government is not aware of it’s own flora and fauna . Assam should claim it’s GI ( indigenous fruit). And use of name “lata bell” should be promoted to strengthen our claim.

It's called BEL tree in odisha. It's leaves are good for health.. you can eat that like a fruit. It's leaves are offered with flowers in Mahadev temple. We used to drink it's juice kind of lassi. Monk fruit trees are common here in Odisha.

No bel is something different u can clearly see both bel and monk fruit have different scientific name so both genus and species of monk fruit are different from bel. It looks similar to bel but its not bel
