we had to wait too long, the papermill factory was closed several years ago which ruined a lot of lives and careers, but now this chip manufacturing facility will take its place finally

@@bhanuprakash_jilugu8513madarsha chaap, all these investments coming because of PLI scheme of Modi government where semiconductor companies will get 80k crore incentives
Also people tend to forget Chip making is a highly water intensive process. Assam is one of the best location since it has Abundant Water from Brahmaputra and heavy rains. Gujarat has got the state government going for it. Gujarat state government is in the process of establishing facilities to make Sea Water usable for chip making. Also Gujarat has met it's own demand of water supply. But that is not the case in other states whether Southern or Northern. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka are facing severe water shortage. Maharashtra, UP, MP , Haryana are also in no better condition to supply such huge amount of water. So is the choice. Also Tata knows from it's experience that Gujarat has a very stable government and people who are more f a business minded and not freebies minded. So BJP is there to stay for very long time. And thus a favourable government.

India missed the IC manufacturing bus in the early 1980s, when the world had just opened its eyes to the potential of Integrated Chips. Rajiv Gandhi government simply set up Semiconductor Complex somewhere in Punjab and sat back. Nothing was done. We could not manufacture ICs even for entertainment electronics. At least now, India is catching up, thanks to ministers like Ashwin Vaishnav, Rajiv Chandrashekar and most importantly PM Modi. Three cheers to them.
Well high end chips are used by AI, weapons industry etc..BUT there is a demand for regular chips say 90nm and above used in cars and host of systems and applications in day to day use. India has a big benefit in that it has design knowledge and it is relatively easier and less risky to manufacture these chips rather than the high end chips 3 nm or less. India will first need to gain experience in design, manufacture and packaging the regular chips before moving upwards in to acquiring expertise in the high end market that is driven by deep pockets, serious tech and process innovation ..it will be akin to a trekker trying to climb Mt Everest !!! So this is MUCH NEEDED VERY GOOD start for India and this will boost innovation and productivity in many sectors and build the foundation for bigger things to come.
South indian prime ministers should have established all industries in soouth india...dont know modi is prime minister for the country or just for gujarath.
because peoles are protestesting when companies go for land aquasition, language discrimination, instable politics, better connection with ports required, laziness in paperwork in other states while gujrat is fulfill all requirenment, peoples dont affair in buisness and politics thats why any buisnessman can setup their factory very easily@@sheshiv6512
its fine that pm Modi is from Gujarat, so he has a special connection. But not everything's should be done only in Gujarat, India should be equalized in terms of everything
Please keep your room temp IQ to yourself. India is 2nd in world in semiconductor chip design , many advanced chips of Samsung, Google, Intel etc are designed in India. Soon we will start manufacturing high tech chips as well.

Well see what happens, right now the major competition is Mexico not China or United States. Mexico is pushing hard to get into the market and has the United States to help it and access to it's markets. If India does get into microchips it would need a "Free Trade Agreement" with America and don't see that happening.
Chip manufacturing requires immense discipline and mindfulness. Discipline is not a trait that Indians have displayed too much -- just look at how traffic moves in any city, how garbage is thrown wherever one feels like it, how people cross railway tracks, how electric wires are hung on poles in any bazaar, and on and on. Whether they can actually manufacture useful chips remains to be seen -- we'll believe it when we see it.
Actually I have seen the new generation is more disciplined and with more public hygiene following and the main reason is the higher education rate and for we Indians are quite adaptive for trained people will surely do good.
Good initiative. But $15B is too little too late. Compare $1.2T Chinese govt. investment in fundamental semiconductor research alone. $15B from mostly private sector, mostly manufacturing ultra-low end microcontrollers, with no focus on fundamentals is just too puny of for big words like "Boost Semiconductor market", "Big Global player", etc.
You ever notice every few years India says they going into the microchip market. 😊 India has been saying since the 1980's. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi even built a factory and everything. They never did make a single microchip. This very important if you build a factory you need to sell the microchip into a "consumer market" which India doesn't really have. But India doesn't have a "consumer market" it would have to sell into America consumer market which it cannot do. So you need to create a middle class of Indians the can afford to buy personal computers.
Even if India is setting up Chip manufacturing unit, Key player is Guys who provide the machineries for production, ASML decides what world will use. Inida should go for ultimate Manufacture asap
we are not buying 14nm or less machine India is going set-up this to boost Manufactuing sector and general electronic use 30-500nm chip , so acquiring machine for this is easy. and for computer processor etc, whole world have spend 1000 time more than India, we cant beat them in that for now.
Very good and utmost welcoming news . Lot many demands do exist in globe of same . Hope sooner or bit later we assume export too to foreign nations . Hope very few nation got the production capabilities anx china is one of them. Acquiring the skills and export to foreign nations would be great acheivement of the great Bharat as it quite costly affairs thats why we dint take up . yes the work is going on . we faced delay in project due to changed politics in maharastra who halt all the projects of bjp .but now bjp is back in power and 2026 will be the time for bullet train.
This is the last opportunity for any country in this tech area, this diversification is also supported by USA who is offering financial incentives. So this is make or break moment and must succeed.

In earlier days, news channel use to have different journalist for different sector for example sports journalist and science and tech journalist. Now a days we have "all - round experts" called news anchors. 04:00 India DONT NEED "AI CHIP". A so- called AI chip is a chip optimised to train LLMs/ChatGPT stuff. That it is used to make AI like chatGPT. Iwould love to know howany people are doing that in India on such a massive level that we need to concern ourselves about damn "AI CHIPS" . It happens when you dont know what you are reporting.
I don't have much knowledge about AI or chips. I don't know what AI chip means. Ofcourse there would be a special design for AI.but the actual intelligence is in the software and not hardware. Correct me if I am wrong

When these plants got ready and start manufacturing, they will become absolutely old and obsolete technologies. As you said doing business with indian politicians and companies seems to be absolutely hard and difficult for everyone.
To make 1 chip needs alot water that's why in coastal area... To prevent any attack from Enemy's like China Pak that's why in southern side It's close to Mumbai & other tech companies... Goverment is chose 1 city to make it GIFT CITY don't think why gujrat... Government has to choose one..
Nope. They are setting up 40nm and 65nm processes. They are specifically used for mass consumption from quiet long time. The real tech has already reached 3nm and 1.4nm is the saturation point. Any chips less than or equal to 14nm are used to power laptops, mobile phones, tablets directly.
@@swapanjain892 Indian government along with the Indian companies working on these technologies needs to have a vision which should be more proactive in implementing these new innovation technologies as a pioneer but not as a follwer. We can all see the quality, dedication, corruption and commitment of government based services are very much worse than the private based services in india. I actually worry about that only. Finally inorder to establish and run a successful organisation needs to have a strong and dedicated support from both government and private partners coalition.
