#IndiaMissionTrip2023: AIF’s Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative (MANSI), a low-cost award-winning community focused health Program, addresses the inequities in accessing quality and affordable health care for mothers and newborns amongst the most vulnerable populations in India.
MANSI advances the skills of Government Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in Home-Based Care (HBC), for timely identification and management of high-risk pregnancies and newborns. Promoting family planning methods to adolescent married couples, ASHAs also educate and counsel their families to delay the first pregnancy until the age of 21.
Started with only 167 villages in Jharkhand, MANSI now covers 5,000 villages across 38 blocks in the state.
Over the last 13 years, MANSI has provided preventive and curative care to 260,211 women, 188,909 newborns and trained 5,647 ASHAs across 7 states in India. Read more on MANSI: aif.org/mansi/
