On September 9 and 10, 2023, New Delhi, India hosted the 18th G20 Summit. The G20 Leaders' Summit was held in India for the first time.
"Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which translates to "The world is one family," served as the summit's theme.
The Global Biofuel Alliance was established, and the G20 Leaders' New Delhi Declaration addressed a wide range of global challenges, including the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, sustainable development, food security, and these tensions.
The G20 leaders decided to admit the African Union as a permanent member of the G20, which is a significant step towards boosting the presence of developing nations in the forum (G20 now G21).
The Effects of AU inclusion in G20: AU inclusion in the G20 offers a chance to redefine international trade, finance, and investment and would give the Global South a stronger voice within the G20.
It makes it possible for African interests and viewpoints to be heard and acknowledged inside the G20.
The GBA project, which is being led by India, aims to create a coalition of nations, international organizations, and businesses to encourage the use of biofuels.
The program aims to promote biofuels as a crucial element of the energy transition and as one that can help boost the economy and create jobs.
It will help advance current biofuel initiatives in India, including the PM-JIVANYojna, SATAT, and GOBARdhan programs.
According to the IEA, the Net Zero targets will increase the growth potential of biofuels by 3.5-2 times by 2050, providing India with a tremendous opportunity.
