Greetings from a South Korean in South Korea. I never knew this role of India in the Korean war. I would like to say I tremendously appreciate the great help and effort made by India to bring peace to the Korean peninsula, and I would also like to praise the gigantic success of the India's plan and practice with regard to the treatment of the PoWs in a war that would just never end. Overall, and geopolitically, I think this story tells us the importance of the India's position in the international community as a crucial balancing power. As India is growing exponentially in the economic area, we can expect far more and bigger roles that India will play in the world, and we look forward to it. Thank you, India. Love, from South Korea.

I live in Canada and have a few Korean friends.Even they (including me) had never heard of India's contribution as a peace Keeper in the Korean war. I have know some very old Canadian Korean War veterans and no body ever mentioned anything about India's great effort to help defuse the situation and the humanitarian work of the medical core. I am equally surprised that any of the current or the past governments of India have made any effort to bring it into the history books, taught in the schools. Its a shame. Thank you Palki Ji for bringing this to lime light. As usual, you have done a great job.

Believe me, that generation of people was not only serious, down to earth, focused, and dedicated. I wish our kids were as committed and serious as them. When I read and hear about them I feel deep respect and pride - people like Gentleman Spymaster: R.N.Kao, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw: Soldiering with Dignity: Soldiering with Dignity, Lt Gen KJS 'Tiny' Dhillon, etc., are the reason we sleep peacefully. A lot of people are saying this should be taught in schools. This made me aware that we never learn about nations 'trying' to achieve a better world, in the current temporal context. Every time I read about the valour and courage shown by the 60th Parachute Field Ambulance unit of the Indian military, it gives me goosebumps. This tale should be taught in schools in India. Sending Paratroopers in the midst of an ongoing battle is like going on a suicide machine. Each party would think you are on the enemy side. Salute to our Bravehearts.
@RoyalRajput108
@RoyalRajput108 Год назад
@mudshovel 289 No Mr keyboard warrior, they should have contacted your mommy before deciding to send paratroopers in the midst of war. Regardless of coordination or what not, when one party is spraying bullets and barrage of missiles, they don't know who to hit, who not to hit 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@RoyalRajput108
@RoyalRajput108 Год назад
@mudshovel 289 Mr gandu again you have no idea what it feels like to be on a battlefield. When a team of paratroopers from a third country lands in the midst of a battlefield, regardless of the extent of coordination or collaboration they attempt, it is an extraordinarily dangerous endeavor akin to a suicide mission. The chaotic nature of the battlefield and the risks associated with parachuting into a hostile environment all contribute to the grave dangers faced by the paratroopers. There is a high likelihood of being mistaken for combatants or getting caught in crossfire. You are jealous wine who does not want to admit the valour of the Indian military. You smell like a beggaristani to me. Go find some wheat flour and rice for your ammi. She must be waiting for it.

"Cold" War was called so because there were no wars in Europe, where both camps (under USA & USSR) across the middle of Germany (between East & Federal West Germany) were armed to teeth. When one after the other, countries got independence from the Imperial rule of eight West European countries (& Korea from Japanese imperial occupation), there was civil-war like conditions on the independence day in each of them. It was because the two military camps (of USA or USSR) influenced the new independent regime to join their side. Korean War was the starter, with many more to follow. War in (DR) Congo was the bloodiest, till the Indian representative Rajeshwar Dayal, issued shoot-to-kill orders to our troops that brought the seceding Katanga, back to Congo Rep. Vietnam war was the longest lasting, culminating in American defeat. All these independence-linked domestic wars cost many lives & maimed many - perhaps more than in WW II. The Cold war that ran concurrently with this UN de-colonisation drive, fed on it. That culminated in American victory, handed on a platter by Michael Gorbachev, the gentleman amongst the Cold Warriors. Korean war was the only war (first & last) that was fought under UN flag, when USA coaxed UN to intervene as a non-member, PRC attacked a member state. The chief proponent though was USA, under Field Marshal Douglas MacArthur. Unable to stem the tide of Chinese human waves, he vowed to nuke PRC & was summarily removed from command & sent home by President Harry Truman. None recalls India's contribution to bring peace to Korean peninsula now, that spurred South Korea to become leading export-driven Asian Economy. For her labours, India deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, if not a permanent seat in UN SC.
@MrPoornakumar
@MrPoornakumar Год назад
@mudshovel 289 You may (disagree). Fact remains that US Army was cheated of victory being troubled beyond her perseverance limit. It is like bout of wrestling between two famous wrestlers (not the boxing Americans are familiar with ). Let's say two top wrestlers from two countries were in the bout. They applied so many grips on each other, ran out of all ideas & unable to disentangle with their intertwined limbs. It was a stalemate. Impossible for any to win. One had a flash of an idea - if not for a win. He plucked the balls of the other & released his grip. The other too disentangled & both were free. The first one (who plucked the other's balls ), found his balls missing !

Well, let me start from the trending kpop and kmovies from which I started to take interest in korean history. In the movie "Ode to my Father "(it's an amazing one), there a small scene that shows the Korean people criticising Indians telling that these idiots came for job in our country because their nation wasn't good enough to support them. Later, the protagonist of the movie tries to correct them for their ignorance. Protagonist appeared as it was just a movie and I know it for sure that in real life no one would speak for us. I always wondered what could I say if I'm the one to be in such a situation. Thankyou, even if I don't argue and try to convince them, I have got an answer for myself... ❤️

With countries trying to change history lessons, it becomes much more important to preserve the actual history. If we don't do that, a lot of facts will become stories and stories can be forgotten. Also with history changing, people will be less equipped to make informed decisions. Let history be history.

@@brucebuffett1533 negotiating Ukraine war is not a easy task Zelensky don't want to loose Donbas, other captured Putin don't want to give Donbas back There is only one option left Zelensky loose Donbas and take other captured land But west won't accept that proposal
