I am an Indian living abroad and get these calls as well. I have lost my Indian accent so these scammers don't realize they are talking to another Indian. I play along for a few minutes acting like I am a gullible foreigner and out of nowhere loudly start cursing them and their parents in very filthy Hindi. They always hang up in panic. Hopefully I have traumatized atleast a few of these scammers into quitting their job.
Do you know what is scary about these Indian call centres… it’s due to the fact they tried to gather information from you first and then sell you a product next time they call you. I had talk to one of the Indian scammer in the past and gave him a fake name and address. 2 weeks later, a different number had called me and say. Are you John smith? I’m like no, but I’m also like how did you know because I had given the other guy that fake name and you are someone different. Scary world we are living in…
I am of Indian origin who is trying to establish a legit trade business in Australia. When I try calling in potential customers they think I am calling to scam them. These scammers have dented a serious blow to the community. Hope they rot.
Unfortunately because the majority of the scammers are in India and have a strong accent, they have ruined your countries reputation when It comes to doing business. Nigerian scammers also. Im so sorry that this is affecting all the honest Indian people out there :( Its up to the ordinary people to do something about the Government and WHY the Government wont take stronger actions to eradicate it :(
Thanks to the Indian scammer calls, I now know many insults in Hindi, I just love to string these scam beggars from India along for long as possible to waste their time and tie them up from scamming others, if it is an on Indian accent on the phone it is a scam, although these scam beggars try to sound like a American accent quite well, they do not understand many colloquialisms, so they are easy to weed out, they do not know they have been identified so i just feed them false information and when they catch on things get very entertaining,

The way that lady convinced herself she was not a criminal just because she convinced someone to give her the money instead of stealing it like a pickpocket... the mental gymnastics people go through to rationalize what they do and convince themselves they are 'better' than others. I think it comes from a deep sense of guilt and discomfort she is trying hard to suppress.
What goes round comes round. The deep sense of guilt is the beginning of the karmic process. This Indian lady and her compatriots should find out more what it means.
I had to rescue my sister from one of these scams because she called a number on her computer that claimed to be Microsoft. Some times i wonder why people think Microsoft would contact them because Samsung won't contact you to fix your TV.
Here in Australia, if we hear an Indian accent over the telephone, we straight up assume scam/scammer. It wouldn't surprise me if legitimate businesses in Australia try not to hire anyone of Indian heritage, just to get around that issue. So yeah, probably is damaging the Indian brand.

It has gotten so bad in Australia. Australians see every Indian as a scammer in our community. It's the perception that so many elderly in our community have been scammed. It's shameful.

The female tech support scam worker who boasted she’s not a thief explaining she didn’t “steal the woman’s money” because the woman willing gave it to her is delusional and trying to rationalize her criminal behavior. She lied and manipulated a trusting person to pay money under false pretenses. That makes her worse than a garden variety thief, it makes her a liar and a thief. And the Indian government is guilty of duplicity with their weak, ineffective laws dealing with scammers. That’s probably by design. They aren’t that interested when their citizens are scamming foreigners or perhaps they are receiving bribes and happy to allow it to continue.
I agree with your comments. I think these scam artists are delusional. It’s the mind of criminals really. The insane thing is America has enabled this. Do you remember Obama? He’s who changed immigration policies and made it easier for H1 visa for Indians. He is actually not very smart. He didn’t think enabling such corrupted people and country to latch on to the technologies of developed countries won’t have consequences. I’ve lived in India actually. Corruptions are rampant and officials are easily bribed. People don’t have great work ethics as you saw in this women being delusional. Imagine companies building up factories there, while they can’t even build toilets yet and infrastructure. I can guarantee you they will steal patents and cause havocs in the world like this. I get these calls semi-frequently and I love keeping them on the line for as long as possible acting as gullible as I can. It's just a drop in the bucket, but the more time they waste on people like me, the less time they get to victimize gullible people. They do seem to be getting more adept at figuring out when someone is on to them and they end the call. If I can waste 15 to 20 minutes of their time I consider it a small victory.

I live in Australia and get these scam calls often. The best way to stop these scams is to hang up the phone the moment you hear an Indian accent on the other end.
That, or if you have some time to spare, come up with ideas without out personal info to waste some of the scammers time to reduce number of victims being scammed by a few.
If I lived in Australia I'd be more worried about non Indian scams.. Those ones really clean people out.. Run by call centers in south east Asia. Investment opportunities for instance.. Or Nigerian romance or other scams. If there's one "good" thing you can say about Indian scams.. Most of the time they are going for under 10k..thats not because they aren't greedy it's just because of the pragmatics of it.. Using gift cards for example naturally limits how much can be taken in one go.
The solution to this issue is for major tech companies to cancel their contracts with all call centers in India and move operations elsewhere. This would clearly indicate that individuals with Indian accents in these roles were the scammers.
Although it sounds like a great idea , it doesn't work , in the beginning it's said this industry is 48$ and 1$ in India shifting into another country does nothing but flourish these scams in that country
People running these scams have lost their souls for money, and have fallen below the basic dignity expected from a human being. Most of their victims are retirees living on hard-earned limited money they worked for their entire lives and hoped to use during their last years. After losing this money some have to go back to work at the age of 70, 80, and even more and sometimes just go hungry, suffer, depressed, and die in pain. The system in the US is merciless if you don't have money so these people can't even imagine what they are doing to their victims in reality. A lot of the problems with scammers are caused by internet media companies who do not provide adequate means for their subscribers to contact them and discuss their problems. @Elizabeth Anthony What they don't realise is that people who are approaching 70 now, were introduced to computers in the 70's. By the 80's computers were the norm in most companies. The new elderly are far more IT astute than current adults. I started studying programming in the late 80's. It would be very difficult for somebody to scam me. The Indian call centres have tried constantly. I play along with them for as long as possible, just to delay their call to another possible victim. When my friends & I discuss this issue, we always say "Indian scammers". The result is that whilst I despise racism, I have noticed that I don't trust Indian store workers or anybody who calls me and has an Indian accent. @@elizabethgrogan8553 That is called a wishful thinking but the reality is that nearly a third of the world's population does not own any form of computer technology and has never had access to the Internet. Over the years, the tendency is for this percentage to decrease, and by the end of the century it is very likely that it will have melted almost completely. Also, as time goes on, scammers and scams become more and more sophisticated. So the probability that the next two or three generations will be without a "job" is almost slim to none.
Whats really sad is that this is ruining the reputation of Indians to be hired in legitimate Tech companies. I work in recruiting and have seen first-hand that hiring managers for Customer Support and CS Engineering roles are more discriminatory against Indians. Not because they are less qualified than other job applicants (sometimes they are MORE qualified), but because they are seeing a high number of end-users hanging up on any support who have an Indian accent. Their customers will refuse to work with anyone who has an Indian accent and demand to speak with someone who doesn't, or the support calls will drag on much longer because people are afraid of being scammed they don't readily provide the details needed to diagnose issues and they'll deflect the conversation by demanding to know information about the support person instead - such as where they live in the US, what school they went to, who their manager is within the CS org, etc. So when hiring managers are considering if one candidate is going to efficiently resolve customer issues within their SLA's or if another candidate is going to end up lowering the entire departments turn-around times (even if it's not the candidates fault the end-user is discriminating against their accent) the hiring managers are more inclined to favor non-Indians.
@Mr.Beant but most CSE's we've hired started their careers in CS or IT, so what is your point? Are you saying you don't think they are both affected by discrimination? And our CSE's don't design anything, maybe in other companies they do but not in ours.
@Mr.Beant the team I work on only recruits for Customer Support Engineers btw, I don't personally recruit for any other kind of Engineer if that helps to clarify
Non-Indian hiring will not solve the problem, People in USA can not have everything. It does not matter where outsourcing industry goes; this problem will move along with it. Only way to solve this problem is to shift your focus from cheap operations to responsible operation. Companies in USA or Europe should set responsible salary parameters for call centers/tech support. It is very easy to resolve this issue in india, you need to ask for "form-16 and ITR report" of every employee in order to ensure that only genuine call centers survive and can get work from your company.
I think some may be 'reaping the benefits of it ' if you know what I mean, so there may be little concern with what a regular person goes through. At times, international pressure could be the only way action can be taken.
Finally an investigative video that shows all sides of it. Why these people have different sense of morality and join these centres. Why these scam business goes on and on. Unless there is govt pressure i'm afraid nothing will change
It's most infuriating is that they keep calling the victims "customers" They know exactly what they are doing. They're stealing money from innocent people but still have the audacity to call victims "customers", even for those who have stopped scamming. It's disgusting.

Just as Leo Said this also shows the vulnerable side of American Society. How Lonely & Helpless the elderly people are there. They have no one to ask for basic advice.
Yeah so lonely seniors are watching scam baiter videos & expose's like this well done documentary. Great work & courage to those who helped pull the curtain back. Some how we still have to be positive. God help the compassionate & give them strength. Its a good idea to refuse to do any banking on a smart phone. The convenience is not worth the risk.
Thank you CNA Insider for making this video to warn people of these high tech scams. Now that I reflected on the security packages I paid in the past I am now aware that I have long been scammed innumerable number of time without even realizing them. Now I will definitely not allow anyone to take control of my laptop to check on my information. I hope many people would see your video and be alerted of these IT scams around the world.
But what is the use when we in Singapore keep getting such calls daily and even till recently Singaporeans are losing huge sums of money just at the touch of an innocent looking button. If the government cannot even defend the country against scammers in times of peace, how less capable are they in times of war.
One of the finest documentaries made by the CNA. Hope at least one of our government law makers sees this documentary and start waking up our government,
@@VitalMusic217 Who btw don't get much for working honestly and hardly? I don't know if you have ever worked a blue collar job in India or anywhere but it's not FUN. The education system in India is completely broken and there is little to no hope of even capital formation for the poor. I am sick of people just blaming the individual and not pointing the blame at the govt. The individual and govt. are equally responsible. I would argue the govt is more responsible. Don't completely blame the individual, you can never know someone's plight.
I live by this rule. Anytime ANYONE calls and asks me to confirm personal details I politely tell them I feel more comfortable calling back the company they claim to represent to the phone I have of that company. I can answer “yes” of they provide the details but once they want ME to provide it, it’s a big red flag.
I like Indian food and culture.but I been scammed so much.i truly feel scared when I even talk to any Indian to help me. Please make laws in your country to prosecute these criminals. Make your view as positive people.
@@robb5828 Yes definitely. That’s how the Indian government does. And the people are wiser for it. They air ads on TV, public service announcements on the radio, hold seminars, and even send messages from verified government numbers to your phone to remind you of the new and updated ways you could be scammed
The mentally disabled get scammed as well and there's not much you can do to help \them, the ones I know are too trusting and will fall for it even with warnings...
Americans are to the point of traveling inside India and seeking these guys out. Many have already. It seriously suggests that the corruption goes unchecked by authorities and they are taking bribes. Reminds me of the hold the cartels of Mexico have. Only , in Indias case they don't give to the poorest. The cartels of Mexico have more respect than Indian scammers. What India should concentrate on is the threat that Pakistan poses on them and China. If those scammers would put their knowledge to use for the nation they might become a stronger and better people instead of being Crooks and Liars. Scammers are disgusting. It's like taking an old lady's cane away. It's like denying some elderly person a wheelchair. It's rotten Behavior. It's Behavior that's going to get India unwanted attention. It's also very damaging to the institutions that America has come to rely on inside your nation. There's a reason the trust has been violated.
It's a good thing I'm not in charge because they would find out what the Hellcat was. The only reason they do it it's because they are allowed to do it. Clearly not a soul inside India has any authority over what the scammers are doing. All I hear is excuse after excuse not to eliminate the situation. India is well within his power and right to take control of that situation with deadly force if necessary. We're not talking Small Change here, we're talking billions of dollars scammed from American citizens, gullible American citizens the scammers personal favorite. Another solution I would impose upon India is that America would place a tax on India and recuperate whatever the scammers take.
Watch how fast something gets done about it then. Penalize India if they can't resolve the issue and if they need help resolving it please call for help. There are literally well over 100,000 people that could assist in removing these scammers from your Society. The most professional and ethical way possible.
Our government only cares if someone is stealing money from them. That’s why they are hiring 80,000 new IR S agents. They don’t care if people are stealing from you.
India was a British colony for a number of years. Why don't they speak with a British accent like other former British colonies? Their English accent is horrible. It's very laughable.
@robinwilliamsdouble5009 First, it's not their first language so they will have the Indian accent. Second they do have a British accent, it's just combined with their first language. If you can hear it then that's your problem 🫠
Does Americans care how they earning and living money on the dead bodies of third country peoples?? Nope .. same goes to every nation... Stop trying to look noble when westerns lotted many countries and now are there where u live....how u people live with themselves eh
It is not only because of "poverty or inequity or injustice" that various kinds of scamming is happening around the world... As long as there are people without "conscience and empathy" they can always find a way to scam people... 😞 So sad...

And don't kid yourself, America is the one and only super power!
Exactly. This guy for example didn't stop at "overcoming poverty". He kept going, and is helping others to do the same. The intention was never to overcome poverty, he wants to manipulate and get rich. Who knows if he ever even experienced poverty.
As someone who works for a legitimate call center. I'll have been receiving calls where the customer cries over the phone begging to get his money back. It's really heartbreaking, and as much as you'd like to return the full amount sometimes the only option you can give is protecting their account to make sure it won't happen again. It's really sad
I kinda know that feeling. I work on the call center of a real state company, and a co-worker got contacted via email by a man who fell for a scam. He wanted to surprise his family by finding them a home, but instead he got scammed and lost a huge amount of money and didn't know how to tell his family what just happened, and to make it worse his family's situation was bad and they couldn't afford to lose all that money. She broke down crying because she knew that there was little to nothing we could do to help that man
I work at a bank and unfortunately we have a lot of older clients fall for scams. We unfortunately can’t do much on getting their money back especially if they agreed or authorized sending it.
I worked in a call room for two weeks in Boca Raton, Florida. I noticed the customer service lines didn't have anybody to answer it. So one day I talked to the customer who called she said that she was ripped off. My boss, Lenny had an excuse. So, I counted the money we received each week and realized no one gets anything when they send money! Haha even we offer send you a envelope to deposit and send to us! I asked for a raise. I also asked do you want me to be the customer service rep? I asked them to let me go, because I wanted to talk to the FTC. So, yes they were arrested immediately. I didn't want this sort of business in my neighborhood. It makes for bad business for our whole Stock brokers and banks.
@@rzum81 But this is what I don't understand, the banks know after the fact it was a scam but you do nothing. However I know if fact the bank can recall debit transactions online. So you have the ability to recall the funds but you refuse? Explain that to me?

I pretty much suspected that the authorities were in on all this scamming. If they rea;lly wanted to shut these operations down, they could. Everyone within a 2-block radius of any operation knows what's going on there. Until the crooked law enforcement and Indian governmental authorities are removed, this will never go away and will leave all Indian people with a bad stigma. Such a shame.
Even our government here in Canada is in on it. And are willing to accept laundered money on real estate. That's how some people have the money to buy hundreds of properties..
Every heard the word MAFIA, the mafia is invincible here. And if we take serious action, they cry government is undemocratic as government is suppressing tribal rights. Even locals are scared of mafia.

I've found out when you tell them you've did order the phone, it throws them completely off their game. Tell them that you did order the phone, and that you want a tracking number. It drives them crazy.
But it is because young people have been educated well, then they have nothing to work on which could bring income to them. What do you think will happen in such situation?

Their 'reputation' was already ruined long, LONG ago, with *millions of baby girls missing and killed* in favour of males/sons, and *gang-raping and murdering women.* Filled with corruption too, this scamming is just adding 'sprinkles' on top of an already-horrible cake.
As a former IT worker in the states a big thank you for this informative documentary. I am now retired and every few days I get some of this crap thrown at me. However unlike many people here I know enough not to fall for any of it. I make it a practice to not give out my mobile phone number unless I know to whom it is going and I keep several email addresses including one that is just junk, which I give out when I don't want to be contacted. I did get a laugh from one Indian who mentioned bad accents. My favorite one was when I asked to who was speaking with and he says "Karl" so I ask "Karl" where he is from and he says Texas yeah, right! LOL But seriously great job on this I sure hope more people in the states take the time to view this as it could save a lot of money and heartbreak.
I had one guy tell me he was from my hometown! ( I live 4,000 km away from my hometown, but my entire family still lives there, so I check the weather, talk to my dad daily, ect ) He couldn't tell me anything about the town, nothing!! So I knew he was a scammer... Another time I told the guy I'm nearly dead, 24 hrs a day I'm bed ridden, why would you want to hurt me? I had him bawling!!serves him right
It is headche for india too, difference is only Indian know how to deal with scammers, indian starts enjoying scammers call by acting stupid infront of them , like showing 0 computer literacy. , Asking meaning of OTP, Irony is scammers belives u🤣🤣 Once the scammer gets irritated , he will cut call by himself 😂
@@pranavgandhar4604 I have had more than a few get angry with me and finally hang up... When they send you an email, you can trace them through prefatch data...and have their address One of my computer buddies I play video games with works for nasa, and has access to satellites. He tracked the hacker, and voice in on him in his backyard - then loaded the live feed onto his computer showing that we were watching him from above!!! Scared him so bad he dropped the laptop and ran inside! These creeps begin calling me at 4 am...not realizing no business calls before 9 am....we get 10-20 calls daily based off our postal code. For some reason they believe everyone is a millionaire on ssi!
The reason we are dealing with this is the west has to do with corporate head quarters of many companies moved their call centres to India... This was done to save money and every company with a call center moved in order to remain competitive. Flash forward 30 years and these same people who once worked at a legitimate call center now have every person's file, address and phone number they ever entered into the system, and the knowledge on how to defraud you... I am surprised there has yet to be a class action lawsuit against every last company that still uses these call centers today...visa, Mastercard, every major bank, cable companies, phone companies, and the list goes on and on... Congress should be talking about this, and how the predatory behaviors of major corporations has led to a complete leak of private information, and is the direct result of poor choices made, that saw many jobs lost and many people defrauded... Had they remained in north America, we wouldn't be dealing with Indian scam artists
Inbred scamming pigs. That's all they know. Heartless and souless animals doomed to hell and well deserved. They were born in a place that resembles hell and will die in the same place. Good.
I get numerous spam calls telling me my Amazon account has been charged. It's always an Indian voice on the other end. Funny thing is, I've never had an Amazon account 😅 😂 🤣 All of the Indian people that I have personally met and come to know are hard working, very intelligent and downright sincere. This type of stuff reflects badly for those that have worked so hard .
I've had four calls in the last 10 days (recorded voice) telling me that my Amazon Prime a/c will be auto-charged for renewal. Like you, I don't have an Amazon account! 🤣🤣
This is really an AMAZING documentary - it didnt just want to sensationalize the problem but almost went all the way to the root cause of the problem - that the scammers are often themselves victims of a broken system in india that grooms them to not view injustice as a problem - but just a situation to step out of.
Sven is doing a great job! I wish there'll be more cyber vigilantes like him so these heartless scammers will be apprehended and receive the sentence they deserve.
There are a lot of scam baiters that do awesome work. Jim Browning, Scammer Payback, Trilogy Media are just a few on RU-vid getting these guys, shutting some centres down and getting some victims money back.
I am so tired of hearing the Indian scams taking place an the lack of action on the governments part. I have decided to take action myself and I am funding a op in India. I am retired special forces and civilian life is boring. I have recruited 15 fellow ex special forces members and we have acquired a high powered microwave emp device that will destroy all computer equipment in the scam call centers. All the people I have recruited are experienced operators and some have expertise in wetwork. They will have no clue as to what hit them. We have another microwave radio frequency device that can make hear voices in their heads, the microwave energy acts on the water in the inner ear and when properly modulated they will hear whatever I want them to hear. I can't wait for the fun to begin.
Just a month ago, I had a call from Canada Revenue confirming my registration for GST/HST account as part of my BN. She was a genuine but she had a slight Indian accent. I was doubting her the whole time and was not even taking her seriously. At the end, all she was doing was verifying my account, so I did not hang up. But all this scam calls have done disservice to their own Indian citizens. Even if they are genuine, people will still have doubts. Thank you Indian scammers.

It's so sad mostly it's elderly customers who suffers. It's heart breaking to hear their stories. Everytime they call the bank it's too late to cancel it. Scammers know the loopholes of the bank policies. I just hope they get the karma that they deserve.

I'm in the US, people literally hang up on every person with an Indian accent even if they're not a scammer and work for a legitimate company. It's so sad that the Indian government and police just simply let it happen.
I get so many scam calls, I immediately get defensive any time I hear someone on the phone with an Indian accent. Even the legitimate calls. Even when I place a call to customer service.it’s like a form of trauma
It is not racism. It’s just being cautious. When you have an experience like this, you listen to your gut instincts and become very careful. It’s just a natural response of human beings.
So sad to see this happen in India. Just tells us that... as former call centers of US telecoms and other credit card companies, they were able to retain data of customers which is why they're able to call and scam them. Specially sad for the elderly, who are the most vulnerable. Why is the India govt not cracking down on these call centers? They're all over RU-vid!
This scamming operation is how India pays America back for giving them decent jobs they wouldn't have had otherwise. Nice. You're right, though. The Indian government must be informed, as it also sounds like the police are getting a cut.
Why do the sketchy parts of cities stay sketchy? Why do the drugs still flow through the streets despite the laws and crackdowns? The cops are in on it. Corrupt politicians and mafias run these.
Because they make enough money that they can bribe the police to not bother them. And as for the Indian government, it's a huge influx of foreign money that helps their country immensely, so they actually have an incentive NOT to stop it. What needs to be done, since India refuses to do anything, is to do drone strikes on buildings that are proven to house the scamming operations. After about a dozen strikes and hundreds of scammers are killed, it should become much harder to recruit scammers. But of course there would never be the political will to do such a thing. But I'm sure we could get away with hunting down and killing the heads of the scamming operations. Although this wouldn't have as much effect as blowing up buildings full of scammers it's better than doing nothing which is the current solution.
India = Dirty 3rd world country with a 3rd world government. There is a certain bad stigma attached to 3rd world nations when it comes to *governance & rule of Law*.. if you know what I mean.
I was scammed back in 1996 when I was 16 yrs old. One of my friends joined a company, and they gave him a simple work to do Data Entry job. He got paid 2000 rs. (still a lot of money at that time) for data entry. Somehow I fell for it and convinced my dad that I also wanted to join. I paid 6000 rs to join that company and got a Data entry job. I did it for 3 months and never got paid a single rupee. its such a shame that many people in our country are dodgy.
As an indian I myself got scammed once. After that I am careful. They mostly target people want/need and then ask for money. Not picking up such calls works great.
I hope these scammers who are being interviewed in the video are caught by now. They're harming too many people and this has to be stopped. What they're earning is "dirty" money and idk why they're so happy by it..
