The best thing I have observed in the past few years is that all infrastructure projects have a max target completion period of 3 to 3.5 years on an average. Its a like a race against time. And projects are being done and completed left right center across India.
Damm..we need this project on our Andaman and Nicobar islands. Then It will become hub for Shipment, ship repair depots and finally like Hongkong and Singapore. Significant boost for our Economy!
if this had come up some 40years ago we could have attracted a lot of ships that is currently going to Colombo but politics and NGO's delayed the project for years.
When Thiruvanathapuram(vizhinjam) port in Kerala is complete It will be the only indian mother port. We dont have to depend on Dubai and colombo for trans shipment

I see lots of challenges. Most of the Industries in South are concentrated in Tamil Nadu side. Why would companies dispatch goods to Kerala from Tamil Nadu when there are so many ports in between. Also, Kerala is not exactly known for best infrastructure facilities in terms of railways or highways/expressways.
This will transform the city of Trivandrum like never before! it already has improved the road infra within and outside the city! cant wait for this project to be complete!
For the Kochi port's Vallarpadom Container Terminal (controlled by Dubai port), the Cochin Port Trust has to spend ₹150-170 crores on an annual basis, to maintain the depth of Vallarpadom trench. This won't be necessary for Vizhinjam port, as its natural seawater depth of over 20 m. As per BOT terms, Adani will operate the port for 30 years.
As seafarer it was also my dream a port like this in my state kerala now it come real. ❤. This port can be one of the major port in international trade.

Although the project is huge and much needed one but there is a question on Adani about how much are they serious about it when they have already acquired lease rights of West container terminal in Colombo which would also become a transshipment port. Also the govt. of kerala and adani are at odds relating to its operations and maintenance. This project could have been completed early if the issues had been sorted out.
The best part in all India infra projects is the implementation speed and the big designs...simply awesome...kudos to BJP government lead by PM Modiji.

This is a 100% Kerala State Owned project. It is owned by SPV(Special Purpose Vehicle) of Kerala VISIL. Operation Contracts to Adani. Modiji has 0% role in this.
This is one Port which can change the image of India itself , since the natural depth of Vizinjam is 20 meters it can even accomodate mega container ships . Trade boom something similar to Singapore and South Korea can happen here . But then again the project which was supposed to be completed by this year is now delayed for 2023 🤦🏻♂️
Guys i am from kerala thiruvanathapuram besides virhinjam this port . This project is going slower than a snail because of communist government (cpm) this government is not providing any facility help to adani to fast this port . First phase is said to be completed in 3 years, after 5 years of starting this not even half of phase 1 is completed
As it's constructed by adani group, some mallus feels pain in their ass. pls try to support the development happening around us, it may be doing by somebody who u don't like. Development of our country is the first priority for all of us.

That's not how it works. It's same as the concept of nash equilibrium. Have you ever seen how different banks, all are located, close to each other? then gas stations, supermarkets, pharmacies, groceries etc.. This is due to nash equilibrium. It creates virtually equal opportunities for competitors, reduce the prices, and allow customers to have a good service. Buildings ports like that will actually make a good competition among different ports. apart from the cost, picking a port depends on politics, bi-directional agreements, organizational ties, business relationships, location of the business, foreign policy of the country, and other laws. There are so many variables. This port will not cause Colombo port to be closed, it will actually cause people in both countries to have cheap products as competition will cause the cost to reduce. However, some countries, business might not care more about cost, like law. Chinese ships might favour Colombo port over Indians due to political problems, ships in middle east might have the same stance as Sri Lanka gets more along with gulf states.

Don't worry, Colombo Port wouldn't be overtaken by the Vizhinjam Port. We already have 4 container terminals(Jaya, Unity, CICT & SAGT), we handle 7M TEUs and also 2 more container terminals, the East(Owned by the SLPA and a Chinese corporation) & West(Owned by the SLPA, Adani Group and the John Keells Group) Terminals are under construction, after their completion, we'll be able to handle 15M TEUs. Also, we are planning to build another completely new port, just north of the Colombo South Port called the Colombo North Port. So no, Vizhinjam wouldn't overtake Colombo.
Singapore port business will be affected by this port. I’m a Singaporean Malayalee. I prefer Singapore port to be #1 at same time Kerala to prosper too. All best for this port.

That's true , I'm from Kerala and these commies are the ones that dragging us back. All the recent bigger developments like the vast Trivandrum technoparks, kochi metro,kochi TST etc were not because of these commies but still they steal their name. Ever since these commies came it's progress in the backward direction. But Chennai already has a port and it isn't favourable for the bigger Transhipment terminal,it needs dredging.
And then people ask what has Modiji done for India? Speed, Communication, Infrastructure, Education, Enviornment, Defence, Economy, Social. For generations to come we will thank him.
