@@amillison we are in the department of Cochabamba. Rainy season is our summer Nov to March. Very similar climate, agricultural economy and situation to the village featured in the Water crisis video. I will email you with the translations as they are made. Thank you Andrew. Your videos bring tears of joy and appreciation to many.

This is actually the way India became the rich country it once was. Already in the late seventies and early eighties many gurus said it would be good to go back to the ancient ways when most people could be content and the few very rich people enjoyed sharing and generosity.
@himanv
@himanv Год назад
That's because Dharma = sustainability. It doesn't even teaches it, it just is. And Hinduism's own name for itself is "Sanatana Dharma" or Everlasting Dharma. Dharma comes from the root word Dhar which means that which upholds... dharma is simply all that which upholds existence of life on this planet. Gurus, Rishis, Saints over thousands of years have simply observed things that uphold better living and talked about it before someone wrote it down. Yoga, meditation, vegetarian (satvik) lifestyle, the entire gamut of ideas of Sanatana Dharma are working toward the same goal. :)
@zeideerskine3462
@zeideerskine3462 Год назад
Indeed. That is why it is a shame it took until the seventies for the rest of the world to actually visit the ashrams and learn about dharma. However, Indians themselves bought into the new hybrid seeds and pest control and, most of all, the silly types of modern water management that dried up a country famous for its water abundance.
@harryniedecken5321
@harryniedecken5321 Год назад
In most places in the world this is called slavery or indentured servitude.
@zeideerskine3462
@zeideerskine3462 Год назад
Actually, no. That is because in this kind of economic system the few super rich would use their funds to sponsor excellence and beauty. The exploitative spirit has taken over hundreds of years ago but the original idea was that a royal family was just prancing around the otherwise useless riches like excessively ornate clothing and jewelry for the people's enjoyment and so that they do not have to. The royal court was a center of excellence where people could pursue and teach arts and crafts at the highest levels that could inspire village crafts people but would not be particularly practical at all levels of utility. In short, in the old system people cooperated for their joint good and the center of excellence did not have immediate power over the means of production. That means the absolute opposite of slavery except maybe for the royal family. However, that too, may be used to push narcissist and sycophants there and out of the rest of the people's way. The problem humanity faces right now is the concept of ownership and money. Have you ever tried to eat money? Live in money? Wear money?

I watched your series three years ago. I also watched your video about the “5 biggest water harvesting projects” where I think all were in India. I was so desperate to see how everything has evolved since. For some reason, there’s not much info available on these projects. Paani foundation has stopped creating videos in English, they have stopped creating success stories, they do a lot of “better farming” gigs in Marathi but water is the key. I am thrilled that you will cover a before / after scenario. Thank you.

Really looking forward to this. I have been living in the high plains of New Mexico, for about 6 years now, and no one seems to really be thinking about water management in a sustainable way. This area has been in drought for many years. In this area the average rainfall should be about 17", but it's been in drought for 15 years now, 2 summers ago, we just 4" of rain. And the aquaphor is being depleted faster then it can recharge, it dropped 12" last year, and only gained 1" back.
