Fact that PAF flew 24 aircrafts into india thats more than a squadron means it is confident of its capabilities. IAF is fixated about replenishing its depleting squadrons not aggressive about upgrading ground based radars or putting more AWACS on air. It never bothered about getting more BVRs into its arsenal. We are reliant on 50s and 60 anti aircraft guns not even SAMs to protect the border. This clearly is showing on how IAF is not focusing on next gen warfare. IAF didn't have proper data link on its Bison. Worst of all the Israeli missile we bought that downed our own helicopter speaks volumes of our capabilities. We lack heavily in weaponised drone capabilities or else these smart bombs in balakot should have been dropped by these drones. In 2019 we don't measure up to USAF of the 1980s also.

IAF and Indian government need to fast track induction of Tejas and replace all Mig 21s and 27s in shortest time. SU 30 MKI has not proved its role as air superiority fighter on 27 Feb since it was forced to be on defensive by Pak planes although tried to join fight. Rafales need to be inducted in greater numbers. Why SAM batteries on border did not fire a single missile at PAK fighters is a great mystery. Instead it downed MI17 of IAF itself. Overall, IAF succeeded on 26th but its weakness was exploited on 27th by Pak airforce cleverly.
