India lost this match by a very narrow margin ..however the best part is that India had already sealed the series by winning the 4th ODI at Vadodara. India won this series 3-2 . This was Dada's first series as full time Captain.

This is fixed match by gibbs and h cronje. Gibbes told that he played tried many rash shots in attempt to get out but eventually scored 70 in 50 balls. that is cricket for you.

This was the series after which Cronje was banned... But South Africa will never b as strong team may be, when they were in the era of Cronje... He was really a very nice & Daring captain... There r many players in history who were involved in Fixing but had no punishment, Cronje must not be banned for life...

Both the legends got their careers overshadowed due to their involvement in the match fixing controversies...... Never n ever thought of the darkest side of Cronje n Crookes as both of these legends created sensation n wonders with fantastic n fabulous job during thier reign for RSA..... After this series in 2000, we had India, Pakistan and South Africa competing in a triangular series in Sharjah in the same year. Hansie Cronje was undoubtedly South Africa's best captain.

Srinath and Prasad bowled really bad in this match. Ganguly had just taken over n there was some cleaning up to happen in team. It happened after this series - match fixing accusations on Jadeja, Chopra, Azhar, Mongia, Cronje n few others. The way Sachin n Dravid were going, India would have won in 45 overs. Classic batting, no risk against lethal fast bowlers, best fielding side. But we lost the match.
