Indian 2nd Class Train to a City We've Never Heard Of
Today, we travel to the city of Udupi in the state of Karnataka in India. Having never heard of the city before booking the tickets, we boarded our train in the 2nd class coach and were pleasantly surprised by the service. In Udupi, we try the famous masala dosa which is said to have originated in the city and then visit a market in town.

The train number is written on top of each bogey outside where it says Place A to Place B. You can find it at center of each bogey outside

@@adamandyaz Bro may be u missed it...But it's impossible that a Train will not have a number on each bogey. In fact each train has 2 numbers..One for a jouney from Place A to Place B...Another for back journey from Place B to Place A.Next time u are on a station u can check again

Basically side berth are adjustable sitting seats for both the passengers lower and upper berth. It can be used as chairs and also as bunk for lower berth pessangers.

Both seats are yours. They are called side lower and side upper. Lower area is designed such a way so both people can comfortably sit in. But when you need to sleep lower area can be transformed into proper single berth. Number written below are indications for both seats lower and upper. Usually people who are travel single or in double choose side seats for privacy while booking tickets online. Yes you can even choose what type of seats you prefer for each passenger if there are seats available apart from buffer reserve for senior citizens /ladies etc you will be alloted your preffered seats

Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, etc are Tier-1 cities. So they will be comparatively experience than Tier-2 cities... like Udupi. Normally foreign tourists doesn't come to tier 2 cities, except indians. We always suggest y'all to explore such places too... because some of these places are filled unknown treasures. Udupi is very famous for its temples and beaches btw. Must visit.

kolkata is actually super cheap but also very luxurious and european....basically you can experience 10rs breakfast to 1000rs breakfast all within a kilometre

I'd call Udupi Tier-4, not 2. Tier 1: Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai/Kolkata. Tier 2: Ahmedabad/Bangalore/Pune/Kochi Tier 3: Mangalore/Mysuru/Nagpur/Kolhapur, etc. Tier 4: Udupi/Madikeri, etc. I think you get the idea...

He ate vada without the sambhar and only got savory taste. The right way to eat the vada is cut into small pieces and put it in the sambhar bowl, dip it and then eat it with a spoon.

Wow !! Can’t believe you went to Udupi !! Did you go to “Krishna Temple area” .. that’s the place to go !! Try Maysor masala Dosa in Udupi - that the most famous !! I went to a university close to Udupi - it holds such a special place in my heart ❤️ If you have time, go the “Hampi” - the temple were built in the 1st century AD .. very ancient but it’s architectural wonder !! Taj Mahal was only in 17th century.. Karnataka is one of the most beautiful, peaceful, developed states in India !! Bangalore is Known as “Silicon valley of India” .. !!

Amazing vlogs @adam and yaz, by the way in indian trains the side births have seatting arrangements like, one is the below birth and the other is the upper birth. In ur case 23 might be the lower and 24 the upper. And both belongs to u guys only. PS : you guys can use "where is my train app" for train related info and tracking your train.There is bunch of features that app provides.

Being from Mangalore, 1 hr from Udupi, Vada is my favorite. (With Sambar or chutney) You should try Poori Bhaji ( but potato Bhaji) … Mangalore Buns. Try the “sukka” ( a dry curry coconut based) clam or chicken or Mutton delicacies. Try the “Ghee Roast” crabs or crab Masala. Go to Diana ice cream parlor and try the “Gudbud” (chaos) ice cream 😁.

man prices in india depend upon which tier that city falls. Now capital cities of states will be expensive and fall in tier 1 and then tier 2 cities which are second, third or fourth largest cities in a state and goes on. Best of luck for your next journey to Kerala or god's own country. i would recommend you to explore Kerala widely because this is the perfect weather for that with moderate rain pleasant climate. you should visit jatayu which is the world's biggest bird statue,sree padmanabhaswami temple which is world's richest temple with a total asset value of gold and gems worth 1 trillion US dollars, Alleppey also known as the 'venice of east' ,konni elephant reserve, veli lake and beach, wonderla amusement park, Munnar, vagamon pine forest, kuttikanam waterfalls, Periyar national park, world famous Kerala ayurveda treatment for healthy life is must and will be cheaper than in many other places, etc a lot. You will enjoy a lot in Kerala it's almost endless.

Surprised to note your comment. It cannot happen (wrong train number) on Indian Railways. Small correction, you were not travelling in 2nd Class, It is AC two tier.. Train coaches are alpha numerically numbered for identification. Generally Indian Trains consists of General Coaches (G), Second Sitting or Second Class sleeper (numbered S1, S2 etc), followed by Air condiioned (AC) coaches ie,, 3 Tier (nubered B1, B2 etc) with eight berths per aisle, then 2 Tier in which you were travelling (nubmered A1, A2 etc) with six berths per aisle and in major trains AC fist class with only four berths in closed cabins. In some trains you will find HA 1 coaches (half 2 tier and half first class). To clarify the berth numbers 23 was side lower berth and 24 was side upper. As per rules (which are hardly followed) passengers can use the berths for sleeping only between 10 pM to 6 AM and rest of the journey, they are supposed to sit in lower berth (if lifted, it becomes two seats).

Train time is not written on the train but it's frequently announced in the railway station the number of trains, the number of platform where the train stops and so on. It is very useful. Moreover it's displayed too.

Bro! A is AC Tier 2 not II Class. II Class is non AC Seating Car. FYI : A - AC Tier 2 B - AC Tier 3 SL - Sleeper Class CC - AC Chair Car D - Non AC Chair Car (Shatabdi/Jan Shatabdi Train) II - Non AC Chair Car. And the numbering on side bed is for Side Lower Birth and Side Upper Birth.

Udupi is like very small city when compared to places like Mumbai, Delhi, even Goa. Udupi is not some popular tourist place. I'm glad you visited there. It's places like these which instills some different level of satisfaction your travel experience and provide that bliss you always needed while traveling in hectic places all the time.

trains are late due to traffic jam. when all routes are busy, trains need to run slow or wait. this delay time gets longer, when routes are long. short route trains don't face much delays normally. that train picked up pace when the routes were empty, so that it could make up to it's actual journey schedule.

Sometimes trains have 2 numbers printed on their body, one old and another updated one. The numbers might have changed due to official reasons but since this is India, they don't bother to change the number on the body of the train. So two sides of the train sometimes actually have two different numbers printed. Here's a possible complicated reasoning why you missed the number: Maybe, this train was supposed to arrive in a different platform. So you should be seeing the number printed on the left side of the train, but since this train arrived on this platform, you saw the right side number. How to know the correct number of a train ? Look for it in the moving text on the digital board in front of the engine. Or better, ask the train driver himself. If you ask the train driver himself you won't have to run around the platform trying to find the Ticket Checker.

India has all to offer like... Actually Southern Languages like Tamil, Malayalam , Telegu are closer to Sanskrit than northern languages like Hindi,Urdu etc. South of India is much more hindu(indic) 🕉 than north .

Yes both seats are your the above one too ...it's just like alot of people like to sit during day right so during day time the other person can sit on down bunk or they can sleep in above one There is always a western toilet in AC coaches 99% of time

I also found Udupi and Mangalore belt to be the least heckly place in India, And people in general are honest and humble. Most of North-east too is like that, but unlike north east, Udupi and Mangalore are also cheaper.

The reason why people say southern India is warmer is because during winters temperatures in northern India can be in single digits and even snow in the northern most parts while southern India stays warm due to its tropical climate. Because you are travelling during the summer or end if it, you find northern India warmer as temperatures there can go around 40 or more during peak summer.

If i am wrong, Udupi is where Dosa was sort of invented. (Origin of Dosas) Also, the further you move down south the lesser the scams and genuine rates. So, food+shopping+transport for less than 10 bucks. Holy moly, i miss India.
