Indian Air Force IL-76MD | Engine Startup and Takeoff 

C17 might be better. But roar of gajraj's engine is enough to give me goosebumps. Still remember running out of my house when this beast would land at AFB Gorakhpur during my childhood. My house was next to landing strip.

The earlier AN-12 from Russia was also Majestic then - I was serving IAF till 1985 and had good chance to fly in AN-12/Mi-4/Mi-8 the mighty aircraft and Choppers then.

waiting for this from long time sir, daily I saw IL-76MD at Chandigarh airforce station, such huge sound at time of takeoff as well as landing , windows of my house starts shaking with this giant aircraft of IAF

My house is next to Jammu airport. love the tremendous sound when IL76 lands and takes off, in comparison the C-17 does not create so much of theatrics but surely is huge

That distinct whistle from the engine is unique to IL series. Can here it even before the plane flies overhead! 😀

I love military planes from my childhood days... I am 60+ now i still admire and ❤️❤️❤️ love these magificiant flying machines...in particular i love the fighter planes from spitefire, p51 mustangs to su 30s... Sadly i have not seen them directly 😢

Wish our beloved INDIA could manufacture nd maintain this plane 100% within Indian territory....but Russia like America says we r BEST FRIENDS ONLY AFTER HAVING THE MANUFACTURING AND MAINTENANCE ECOSYSTEM INSIDE THEIR OWN COUNTRIES.....NO TECH TRANSFERS.... BUT CHINA HAS MANAGED TO STEAL FROM BOTH OF THEM ......WE COULD NOT

the IAF should replace it's aging fleet of Ilyushin Il-76MD multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft with brand new Ilyushin Il-76MF-90A multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft which is a stretched variant of the Ilyushin Il-76MD multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft . . . a fleet of 83 - 92 brand new Ilyushin (stretched) Il-76MF-90AE multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft should be enough for IAF's logistics needs . . . the IAF & other C-17B Globemaster III multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft operators should pursue Boeing to launch a stretched variant of the C-17B Globemaster III multi mission heavy lift transport aircraft . . .
