Chilli pickle or fermented chilli recipe might surprise you - despite your expectation, it is not as hot as you think! This pickle is extremely easy to make, you just need a bunch of chillies, mustard oil, mustard paste, salt and (optionally) fennel seeds. Hello Shrikanth! Thanks for the video! Not satisfied with my chilli pickle, (fried type), and after viewing several videos, I was convinced that the fermented version would be the best! All the branded mustard oils available are the unrefined or "Kacchi Ghani" type. Being a senior citizen, I recall that we used the refined type during my school days. Which did you use?

Hi Glenn , I have used the Kacchi Ghani, they are dark and have a very pungent aroma and flavor. If you are going to make this then please leave it in the jar for a few days. If there's no warmth of the sun which I suspect is the case now , then keep it in a place that is not damp ( such as kitchen sink ) . You can also heat the mustard oil , cool it down and then prepare the spice mix with it. I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further help. Thank you :)

This is different from any other method I've tried, and it might work for my green Jalapenos. I will have to use a different oil unless I find mustard oil in the store, tomorrow. Maybe a rich, yellow corn oil will do, and some finely crushed turmeric roots that are in my freezer waiting patiently to be used. I'll add cumin powder, also. Good times. 😁
