@@Skilluminati79gdp is entire output created in a country in a given year, which becomes combined revenue of entire population.. on the other hand market cap is the value of a shares of company …for a country comparable of market cap will be total combined value of all the assets in the country (less debt).. hence the right comparison is revenue vs gdp and not market cap vs gdp
All your points are valid. But you cannot compare gdp with the market cap of a company. GDP is accrued in a year but market cap is the result of the company’s performance throughout its lifetime.
Respectfully sir - Point well taken but I wish to point out two errors in your argument. 1. Gdp shouldn't be compared with market cap but with revenues of the companies.Market cap is equivalent to expected revenues of those companies in perpetuity while gdp is revenue in one single year. But point taken that few top corporations earn more than whole of India. 2. In most sophisticated economies, median income is used as a proxy rather than gdp per capita. India should too. Even so, it takes multiple metrics to paint full picture of overall economy. Point is well taken than gdp and gdp per capita shouldn't be obsessed over. Ones personal lack of welfare is definitely captured in some metric which is not being highlighted in India.
Gdp and market cap are incomparable. It’s like comparing litres with kgs both tell quantity but are in comparable. Both gdp and market cap tell the size of financial entity but are incomparable.
I think wrong comparison is being done here, GDP is the value of production of goods and services in the country in a given year whereas market capitalisation is value of all shares, it is like wealth. GDP should be compared with yearly revenue.

@@ajeetpawar791in what context cannot be compared directly. It can be used to say market cap is x% of the same country’s gdp so the market is over or undervalued. But even there market cap of one country’s index cannot be used to compare to other’s gdp. Ab bolo guruji maza a gya 😅
Guruji, I feel that India's unemployment problem cannot be solved. Out of 140 crore population even if we consider 1 out of 4 to get some kind of employment even then we are looking at a number of 35 cr. This is the total population of the US. This means we have to employ a population whose total size is that of the USA. Yeh kabhi nahi ho sakta mere hisaab se. Yeh garibi garibi ka khel chalta rahega.
