It was sohni who used to cross chenab river using a ghara (clay pot) as she didnt know swimming the to meet her lover Mahinwaal. She actually drowned on one of the occasion when her pot was not hard enough. Most of the Punjabi folk songs have a deeper meaning mostly love for the Creator like they do in Sufi music.

Sohnee used to cross the river with a baked pot tomeet her love Mehewaal. Her sister in law changed it to an unbaked pot, which turned into mud in the centre of the stormy Chenab river and she drowned.

That lady was playing SAAGAR VEENA and that lady is the mother of both male singers, the one who started the song and the rockstar in the end.. Both are brothers and their mother ws that lady playing that instrument!

Nice react guys! The two male singers are brothers Ali Noor and Ali Humza (Noori The band). The female vocalist is Shilpa Rao. That strange looking instrument was I believe called a Sagar Veena and the lady playing the instrument is I believe the male singers (Ali Noor and Ali Humza) mother.

The end crescendo shows the panic that Sohni felt, drowning and begging the ghara to take her across. While the unbaked ghara is disintegrating and the desperation of Sohni and Mehewaal is presented. Wow!

Its a lobe story of Sohni and Mahiwal. They were from different tribes but they used to love each other. Sohni was married to someone but still Mahiwal was in the heart of Sohni. Her husband used used to make clay pots. So she used to travel on it to meet Mahiwal. Unfortunately one day her sister in law placed a half baked pot. Sohni drowned to death. So this song is to show the conversation between Sohni and the clay pot that no matter what I am going to meet my beloved.
