Indian Relay, dubbed “America's original extreme sport,” has roots dating back centuries to horse stealing raids. Native Americans are keeping the dangerous and compelling racing tradition alive.
"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

Incredible horsemanship! I was a Jockey in the early 1970s and I can tell you the thrill of riding a Thoroughbred is out of this world. To do it ala Indian, bareback and as a relay team is out of this universe! I so enjoyed this I want to go west and watch a race in person. Yes, Churchill Downs should run an Indian Relay Race as an exhibition event. Race fans would love it!

Horse abuse?
@ratherbwithhorses
@ratherbwithhorses 3 месяца назад
it would bring out all crazies that hate all things horse. They want horses to be separated from humans because they love seeing abuse in all things horse. In NYC they think horses walking in Central Park, a park built for HORSES is cruel. This needs to be kept private so horse haters can not ruin all the good.

This is so incredible! The physical strength and stamina it takes to ride bareback, especially at a gallop, is insane. I can’t imagine jumping off and right back on again as well- SO much strength is required to be able to do that. I would love to learn more about what they look for. I imagine they prefer to find TBs who stand closer to 15h or are on the smaller side in general because it’s easier to mount and dismount. I’m so worried about the safety of the horses and the people involved, but I can see that the horses are all very well cared for and loved, and I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to avoid collisions. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world! Although I hope to see this make its way into the mainstream, I certainly won’t be trying this on my ex-racehorse mare 🤣

Time to drop the word "Indian". That only applies to the peoples of India and to the citizens of that vast and ancient land. Period. To see Native Americans (and the general population) still use the word Indian in this day and time shows cultural, and historical, cluelessness and mass ignorance. At least the oppressed, and dispossessed, natives of Australia are called Aborigines - the original people. The BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) needs to be called BNAA - Bureau of Native American Affairs.

You might be surprised. It really depends on the location. I had the privilege a few years back of watching a talk given by an extremely knowledgeable California historian to a group of teachers. He spoke of the California Indians, among other topics. At the end of the session, a lady came up to him with tears in her eyes. She thanked him for acknowledging her people, the California Indians. That's what at least some of them there prefer to be called.
