Installing a 20% larger front rotor made by Arlen Ness. As well as much improved brake pads and a caliper relocation bracket. Link to rotor: sscustomcycle.... Link to pads: www.revzilla.c...
Installing the caliper without brake pads is how you get it over the rotor, then you install the pads. You did it the hard way, but you got it done. Looks good!
Unlock, I am a MCist, of over 50yrs experience. I bought my first @ 14. I'm a 66yr old grandpa now. I enjoyed your RU-vid video, a on better front brake for the "Scout." I don't know how many bikes I've had. I rode for more than 50yrs. My most recent was a 2011 Dyna "Street Bob." I bought it new. I WATCHED my big brother crash his BSA 441, into a horse corral. He broke some ribs, He broke his neck. The broken ribs, punctured his lungs. I called my Dad from the hospital. I said, "Scott crashed his bike.... He's dead." My Dad was a WW2 Vet. He was an Architectural Engineer who worked on the space program. He hated MCs. I told you He was a Vet. My older bro was my Dad's "carry on the name son." Of course, Dad didn't know if he would return from WW2, or not. Love your Scout. I want 1 for my next bike. Check out Pastor Paul on RU-vid. How are you doing my name is Larry I love watching your videos very very good I don’t ride or Indian scout a ride a Harley Davidson fat Bob 114 but I love watching you do your upgrades and gives me a lot of ideas keep up the good work you make nice videos very enjoyable
You should be able to get the caliper on the rotor while installing the front wheel like I have to on my sport bike that has 2 rotors in front (otherwise you can’t). Thanks for the video, I may add this to my Scout Bobber.
I cant believe you put the C clamp right on the "painted" side of the caliper. At least put a soft rag over it to protect the paint on it. C clamp could scratch the finish on the caliper.
Still got the bike. It’s my dream bike, it’d be a very bad day in my life if I ever had to sell her. I haven’t been riding it much lately as I got married, my wife got pregnant, and we now have a young baby we’re raising. It’s safely tucked away for the time being.
You need to sit on the gas tank when you do it. Then you'll achieve a stoppie. Lol. Love to see how you mentioned that the brake pads were manufactured in the United States of America. American aftermarket being put on an American bike. +1
I love them. I didn’t expect them to live up to all the hype, but they really do. Great traction, good stability. They’re supposed to go a lot of miles. I will probably buy them again when they do wear out.
unaclocker That's good to hear! My OEMs are in need of replacement soon, and was curious as to how those held up. Don't know why Indian used such crappy tires to begin with.
