Across Canada, a storm of protests is brewing as over 70,000 international student graduates face the grim possibility of deportation due to recent changes in federal immigration policies. From the bustling streets of Ontario to the serene landscapes of Prince Edward Island (PEI), students and skilled workers alike are rallying for their rights. These demonstrations underscore the anxiety and frustration of those who came to Canada seeking a brighter future, only to find themselves entangled in bureaucratic red tape and shifting immigration pathways.
The frustration began in Prince Edward Island, a province that saw a surge of Indian students, who now find themselves at the heart of the protest movement. The students, who had invested time, money, and hope into their Canadian education, are now facing unexpected vulnerabilities due to new provincial policies. These policies have slashed permanent residency nominations by 25%, leaving many feeling betrayed and uncertain about their futures.

@tsarbomba9695 First of all, they didn't go through the canadian embassy, but through one of the fraudulent agencies, and also received fake diplomas from those agencies, this was found out by the border agencies at the US boarder crossing, and was informed about it to the canadian authorities , they came with a fake admission made by the same agencies, these things are old news, but Last week in out side of school in Brampton 30 to 43 years old people protesting about 225 people who have failed their marketing courses, what a joke, protesting for fake schools, by fake students, they are not university students, not even real college, every thing was created by their own people, same thing in Australia yesterday their minister speaking on BBC, also UAE wanted clean up 4 million illegals also yesterday's BBC. Canadians are raised to not hate and to embrace diversity (including being taught this in all daycares/schools). People need to look at all sides. India has a 29% unemployment rate amongst it's own graduates. One of the big reasons why young people are leaving India in droves, yes? Plus less than 50% of the 950 million working-age population in India is employed (compared to over 70% in other emerging markets). Amongst the Indian working group, many are self-employed and contain “unpaid helpers in family enterprises”. India has one of the highest emigration rates in the world. As many zero in on education as a way to gain access to a western country? Did international students/families pay into Canadian taxes all their lives like domestic students have (earning cheaper tuition fees)? No. Plus Canada did NOT tell international students/parents to spend/risk their life savings on a "Canadian dream". Canada did NOT tell international students to borrow money. Canada did NOT promise international students work. Canada did NOT promise international students money. Canada did NOT promise international students PERMANENT RESIDENCY. Meanwhile freelance agents have been operating in an unbridled market in India. Often by painting a distorted picture of what students can receive from Canada. Plus in recent years, a new type of recruitment has cropped up via foreign nationals as many "edu-tech" have created online platforms to connect millions of potential students with the recruiters. The sub-agents have absolutely no no direct connection with the Canadian college. Plus the college has no no ability to control their conduct. Indian sham operations abused/abusing Indian students in person &/or via massive advertising. PRIMARILY in their native language that most Canadians do NOT understand. Painting a false picture in their minds (of what Canada could or would or should offer). Canadians are seeing primarily Indians protesting & waving their flags on Canadian streets making demands. Because they may not have enough credentials to remain in Canada? And because rules designed to protect CANADA are not meeting their desires? Why isn't there crowds of African or Caribbean or Filipino etc., students making demands? They're in Canada too. And even though Canada is being falsely/unfairly blamed for too much, Canada has yet to deport students like crazy (but likely will soon). Instead Canada has been trying trying to find balance of who can stay vs go. While also trying to fix anything Canada did wrong. Create a better future. Why? Because Canadians actually care about doing so for both Canadians and international students. Canada's own youth are also victims of the above mentioned scam artists now too. Due to a severe lack of homes & entry jobs now in Canada partially due to Indian STUDENTS swarming all post-secondary SCHOOLS then 95% of the unqualified fighting for PR vs returning home when their SCHOOLING ends! Many asking for asylum too (which rarely leads to PR). Questions: ⦁ What is India doing about any of this? After Canada told India to halt Ghost Consulting. Many Indians keep saying their politicians are corrupt. True? Plus Canada didn't have numerous PRIVATE 'diploma mills' until 40% of international students were from India. Coincidence? Schools that Canada is shutting down. ⦁ What about all the YT videos that primarily Indian nationals have posted (for half a decade now including today) all advertising Canadian PR like they're selling a product? Promoting Canadian visas & permits & schools & jobs etc. etc.. Videos not only posted hourly but rarely in English or French. With very very rare input from Canadian citizens. ⦁ What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? ⦁ What about Canadian food banks & other charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages? ⦁ What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by, and for, foreign nationals? Some home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply". Often these 'landlords' also cram 20 students in a small home and charge them each way too much for rent. ⦁ What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then repeatedly putting Indians only in the top tier positions (while also changing familiar work practices)? BC & Ontario are also outlawing the Caste System. ⦁ What about the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada? Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) even though it all stems from their ancestral home. Why????????? ⦁ What about the Canadian government launching investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections, stemming from Asia continent? Canada also had to end flagpoling at the border. Canadians are so so so not used to all this!! Do Indians care about Canadians suffering too? Or do they primarily want to point fingers at the Canadian government etc., when many things weren't in Canada's control? Why should Canada pay for what Indians did to Indians? Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Now everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian Canadians MOST upset (by all of this). PS Immigration being decreased in: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, The Maritimes, Alberta, Saskatchewan, & Manitoba. Chances are better for homebuilders, healthcare-givers and job CREATORS.

Thank you for your detailed post. Needless to say, I don't have figures to either agree or disagree, but I'll take your word for it. My own feeling is that it boils down to numbers. When people from a certain country of origin arrive in droves, it is human nature to want to protect oneself. I myself came to the US from India in the 70s when there were relatively few Indians coming in, especially to graduate school. US immigration law was not particularly easy, or organized, at the time (one could argue that it is still somewhat chaotic), but the right skills and education could get you a decent job upon graduation which, in turn, could get you a green card - but only if you could get through Labor Certification (evidence that you're not taking away that particular job from a US citizen or green card holder). But that was not a problem back then because there were lots of jobs, depending on what you did. The other nice thing - though it didn't seem so nice in the beginning - was that there were so few Indians (or even other international students) that you were forced to blend in, and in my humble opinion, Americans made it easy to integrate. They didn't do it by any governmental policy, but just by their very nature. You hear stories about rampant racism in the South, but I never met more welcoming and warm people than I did in Georgia. I was one of perhaps two or three Indians on campus. Which brings me to my conclusion du jour. I hate to use the word "fault", but part of it lies with Canada. If Canada had not flung it's doors open to hundreds of thousands of foreign students - mainly Indian, I gather - in a very short time, this would never have happened. There is an initial surge of warm fuzzies because of increased diversity, or the feeling that poorer countries are being helped, but that gives way very quickly to the realization that the country's own well being is now being compromised. A great example of this is Scandinavia, with the possible exception of Norway. Both Sweden and Denmark, perhaps from genuine altruism, or from a level of virtue signaling to the rest of the world, accepted huge numbers of immigrants. It didn't take long at all for the native Viking population to discover that it was a highly disruptive move. Countries that had no crime to speak of suddenly developed ghettos with violent crime (Malmo in Sweden comes to mind). I actually don't believe this is racism; perhaps tribalism in some way, but that is understandable. Allow me to posit that if the European conflict escalates to it's logical conclusion, and millions upon millions of Ukrainian refugees flood into Canada (or the US, for that matter), and if they refuse to integrate (you know, disperse locally, learn the language, immerse themselves into the local culture etc), you can bet your bottom loony that local Canadians would turn against them in a heartbeat - notwithstanding the fact that you can't tell them apart at first glance. Just look at the UK, where I watched with fascination on RU-vid as one gentleman of Indian origin, obviously born in Britain, was protesting AGAINST immigration (from the EU, no less), stating that these people knew nothing about "Bri'ish culture". Unfortunately, there really is no good solution to this, but you have laid out the problem very well.

In France, many students come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT awe do not have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT atao blame!!! It is the fault of the government who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!!
