Indian wrestling seems to be stuck in an endless loop of problems and it just doesn't look like like going anywhere. There are big questions to be asked off the back of big moves, one being Vinesh Phogat's entry into politics and her accusations against the government that it was actually a conspiracy that made her lose out on a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Then there is the wrestler's protest, that doesn't seem to have led anywhere and nobody seems to be talking about it now.
On top of that, in what seemed to be a great news for Indian wrestling, a new league - Wrestling Champions Super League was announced by Sakshi Malik and Geeta Phogat. The league already has the endorsement of India's latest wrestling Olympics medallist Aman Sehrawat, and everything seemed promising, at least up until a couple of hours later when the Wrestling Federation of India announced that they won't sanction the league, and are working on bringing back Pro Wrestling League.
All of this, and other issues over the years that still are unresolved, just points to one thing- Indian wrestling doesn't seem to be going anywhere and ultimately the brunt will be borne by wrestlers, fans and the sport itself.
