@@whatarefriends4 I didn't do "poor Andrew", I did poor Colts fans, but facts are facts as it relates to the shortcomings of Grigson's teams. Samson Satelle says so. But as it were, everyone loves that athletic QB until it's "it's a pocket position" because of wear and tear. I'm sure the AR situation will have some similar issues at times.

@@KentSterling of course. the part of the story that blows my mind is that Andrew is the only guy who's ever done this as a QB with that kind of future earnings on the table. The only one. People keep saying "we're gonna see more guys walk away"- but not a QB we're not.

One really solid move away - and maybe that move is the development of Mathurin and Walker.

She doesnt SHOOT enough to ever be like MJ….(she needs to.) she tries to be like magic johnson too much and she cant pass as well…obviously.

Could definitely help Mathurin and Walker.

it wasn't the right move on paper, but hindsight is what it is and big picture, Peyton is why the Indianapolis Colts are even a thing by in large. My grandpa told it was a loyalty thing at the time (and that stuck with me as core part of this story). Sports doesn't do that though. Knowing what we know now, it's a way easier case to make though that Peyton should have stayed.

Polian did what he did in a very productive way - having quarterbacks like Jim Kelly and Peyton manning sure didn't hurt!

@@KentSterling true story Kent, it’s pretty difficult to replicate what he did especially since Peyton Mannings don’t come along often. I’m so grateful he went with Manning instead of Leaf

But he was much more active in free agency, and put together some decent position groups that way.

First round draft pick for Trent Richardson, a RB who already proved he couldn't play behind a better O line than what we had at the time. A washed up Andre Johnson... Grigson was a terrible GM. He made one good trade to get TY, made the obvious Luck pick, and took two good offensive linemen in Kelley and Anthony Castonzo.

Not even close. Grigson gave up a draft pick in a terrible draft that the Browns used to trade up for Johnny Manziel. The trade was far worse for the Browns. Grigson took a shot - and Richardson couldn't stop eating McDonald's.

@@KentSterling we gave up a first rounder for a rb who never produced. It's not a matter of which team cane out better. It's a matter of what was traded for the value received. Look at the gift Stafford trade. Both won.

@@watcherofthewest8597 And this was the opposite. Both lost. The draft was correctly assessed by Grigson as bad. He could have used the 26th pick to take a player who likely would not have brought wins.

It was that no one with Jackson's combination of athleticism and size has succeeded. I guess you could call it educated ignorance.

Completely absurd that a policeman or teacher earning $60K would need to work for 1,000 years to earn what a non-starter will earn for the Pacers during the next four years.

I believe Ballard is the better GM, but to ignore won-loss record as a metric for success seems crazy.

@@KentSterling Hell, you could make an argument that Irsay was a better GM. Sure you can't ignore it completely. But you use it as the pinnacle, be all end all. Wins despite Grigson really should not apply to his record.

Draft isn't the only thing, but it is the most important path to success, and Grigson had three consecutive terrible drafts.

It’s pathetic how far our standards have fallen here in Indy to where we are so hopeful after a 9-8 season….heads would roll in the past. if we went 8-8.

Nothing matters if you don't have a QB that can win. That's what makes every coach and GM look good.

Grigson inherited a starting LT, hall of fame WR, and hopefully a hall of fame edge. Had a great kicker and punter too. Ballard's cupboard was mostly bare - minus a healthy Luck for 2018.

@@KentSterling well Grigson never hired his own coach Kent. They were here already….in terms of head coach.

People are constantly comparing Ballard and Grigson - especially Ballard and Grigson. If they don't believe it's silly, I don't.

They have to match salaries, but by not being over the tax threshold they can make a significant deal.

Colts won seven AFC South championships in eight years - and excluding his first and last year with the Colts, Polian's Colts teams went 138-54. Giving up the undefeated season was total idiocy, and you are 100% right about Manning.

He only has that record because of Luck.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.8 40…….the greatest players of all. Time coaches….had little “style”….Bellichick. Lombardi……Dungy……Gibbs…Landry…Shula….if you are looking for “style”, go run a fashion business. This is fucking football. And style matters not.
