I am Indian and I have some wonderful friends from Kenya and Nigeria, but I don't consider myself black. I am not. I am East Indian no matter what roots we come from. Also, there are a good number of Indians who are not dark skinned. Saying we like Africans or African Americans is different than saying we believe we are them. I also have good white friends and friends from Vietnam and Philippines. I like them too. Should I say I think I am white, Filipino, or Vietnamese?

That’s a lie. I work in IT and have worked with hundreds of Indians. I even visited India on a work trip. As a black woman they looked at me like I was in a zoo. Everywhere I went, even the Taj Mahal. So if they see themselves as black people, why would they stare at me like an animal in a zoo? It was so unsettling.

There’s history here. When Indians went to the UK in the 60s they were sometimes called black or darkie as white folks really didn’t know the difference. Also people of colour gravitated towards each other back then. I used to work overseas and there were a few Indians that said they were black. I didn't understand until I understood the racism that they have in India with light versus dark.

I had a friend at university that was passing as black and he was Indian. Like spoke Hindi and everything! It was crazy when his parents came to campus in traditional Indian clothing and when he saw them, a completely different person popped into his body😂😂😂

Indians only want to be black in the US. They have no game when it comes to women and so by acting black they get more and it also easier to make friends. Go to India and nobody wants to be black.
