This is NOT typical. Most Americans are just hard-working people who live in (average) 3 bedrooms home doing the best they can raising their kids. She said that she drove an hour from San Francisco (one of the highest costs of living places in America). On average most Americans do not live in a two-level(two story) home. These kinds of videos are very misleading.
No. On the East Coast, most homes are 2 stories. There are a few ranch style houses, but even they have basements. In 55 years, I've never lived in a one level home, with the exeception of twice when I lived in apartments before I was married. Even when my parents were scraping to get by we had a 2 level home.
Well, i would agree with Bill 1370 more but certainly wouldn't disagree with shelaughs 185 completely. US is huge and so diverse so u really cant generalize much that way I feel
this house, minus the property, would be a lower middle-class house...how is that bs? The vast majority of Americans don't live in a ghetto, and so their housing isn't dilapidated or subpar as this one is. It is a 3 BR 1 Ba ranch house built in the 50s giving it an approximate 900-1000 sq ft space not counting the finished basement. With the basement it is most likely less than 1500 sq ft space. Looking at avg housing in the US in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, and today, this is an undersized house. The avg US house is 34 yrs old, so this house doesn't come close to reflecting the avg house in the US. But unlike what you seem to be professing, this house is on the undersized side of the spectrum. The avg US house is 2100 sq ft.
