The indie artist who turned the music industry on its head is now doing the same with motherhood by embracing her post-mom body and her fears of being insignificant.

I will always and forever look up to her. She's not perfect, she doesn't try to live up to a standard that was given to her. She makes mistakes, she laughs, she cries, has hopes and dreams, and best of all, she's real. Honesty and vulnerability like this is hard to come by these days, I struggle with it myself, but as I'm reading her book and watch her interviews the more and more I see myself letting go and just living for the now, and I'm happy. Such an inspiration, this made my day, thank you so much❤️

mysticalcupcake but you're not always fine either way. Some women can't handle motherhood. Some women get deeply effected after abortion. She makes it seem like a nonchalant issue... When it's NOT.

@@Lauren-pt3gz I do not think she meant at all to make it seem nonchalant.. If you have listened to any other interviews or music of hers, she brings this up alot. I think that she means to say that you need to be a strong individual to carry a baby through pregnancy and also to terminate it. She doesnt mean that it is fine, but you need to be ready for it, you know

And the way she described breastfeeding at 8:38 awwww!! my heart melted! For somebody who originally never really wanted to be a mom, didn't feel the calling to be a mom and then decided to go for it anyway it was really sweet to hear! :)

I love how she describes breastfeeding! It's so unfortunate that more women aren't given the platform to talk about the beauty of breastfeeding because it's considered "inappropriate" or whatever. Go Amanda!

Oh mama, you are so singing the song of all working moms... How do we keep it all going?? Thankfully the kids teach us how to simplify {I was a single mom of 3}. Mine pulled me toward love, pulled me though, helped me focus. An old lady gave me a gift when I was a younger mom.. She said, "20 years from now, you won't look back and think 'I wish I didn't spend so much time with those kids!' " That focused me too. Work is important, no doubt, as is identification of self, being a woman... but I learned to realize that my motherhood encompassed all of that, and made that work More. So great hearing this, wonderful! hearts hearts

I am just listening to 'The Art of Asking' on audiobook and just now in the car, I listened to the part about the videoclip and the record label wanting to edit parts out because of her 'chubby' (not my words) belly. Such a coincidence. Great to see her now while I listen to her voice. I am loving the book so far and I admire her authenticity and strength.

God, Amanda Palmer has been such an inspiration to me for the past 3 years, I love her so much and I always look up to her. Ive been struggling with self acceptance for my entire life really and Im not going to say Ms Palmer is the only reason I feel better about myself, because we all know its not that simple, but to have someone like her to look up to has really driven me to look to myself and appreciate what I have. Shes truly amazing, love always!
