Chelsea Vowel is a Mother, public intellectual, writer, and educator whose work intersects language, gender, Métis self-determination, and resurgence. Vowel's lecture entitled "Indigenization in the Time of Pipelines" was part of the 2016-2017 Weweni Indigenous Scholars Speaker Series presented by UWinnipeg's Indigenous Affairs Office. From February 8, 2017.

I work with an amazing first nations gentleman and he is always saying that “we are all guests on this earth” It’s amazing the disconnect that these academics sometimes have from they everyday folk that they claim to represent. This gentleman thinks of us as brothers together on this earth, after all, neither of us chose to be born here. He is truly one of the most interesting people I have ever met.

awareness of citations is so important. it's frustrating when indigenous voices (self)publishing is 'not academic' whereas a white prof lifting those sources and publishing it in a journal is 'legitimate'. :(
