I live in the greater Vancouver area. I'm part native, from my father's side, with my native status. I've just recently gotten my pal course done, purchased my first rifle, and I really want to get into a hunting. So I'm scouring the internet right now for hunting tips and how to get started. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I really badly want to learn how to hunt. And I want to be able to pass on that knowledge to my kids one day. I haven't taken my core course yet, mostly just due to not having much time lately. I've got a 9-month-old at home, that has taken a lot of my free time lately. Good problem to have. Just putting this out there, if there's anyone out there that wants to bring a newbie on the hunt. I'm 36 years old, easy to get along with. Hit me up if you would like to take somebody under your wing teach me the ropes.

as someone who is new to hunting and trying my best to respect the culture this information is incredibly valuable, and not super easy to find!

Remember natives do not hunt for trophy or chase (generally) they hunt to acquire food (generally). Logging areas are great spots for early season harvesting of deer and moose. Normally fires provided the varied stages of forest growth

Not trying to be offensive, honest question here. How is it every inch of land spoken for under ownership of a tribe(nation)? Think it through. Thousands of miles of dense unlogged forest and steep terrain... majority of it never had a foot placed on it, for sure. There is no way they consistently traveled away from good areas that provided through thousands of miles of dense terrain... and make it alive. Does not make sense..Do you truly believe this claimed ownership to the entirety of BC or are you playing nice with current day politics?

Wow are you incorrect. Most natives, and non natives hunt these “devastated “ logging areas. Lol we need biodiversity from logging to increase successional stages in environment to increase numbers of browsers such as moose and promote grass growth for deer. Incredible one sided and misleading. Hope people choose someone else
