Hey man! Just wanted to say thanks for the run down. The last time I played a Pokémon game was Black and White. I was super into EV training, but I think the grind at that time really burnt me out and sucked out the fun of pokemon. But I recently got back into S/V and I'm glad that they made competitive training much easier now. I appreciate your simple run down and easy math of what I need to give and where+
Absolutely man, it was fun making the video! I'm glad it helped you get back into Stat training in the new Gen. The last time I had played a Pokemon game before S&V was X&Y, so I feel your pain lol.
The level of your mon shouldn't affect how many EVs you get, however, a higher evolution of a wild pokemon's chain will give you 2 or 3 ev points per kill.
I'm pretty sure the battle items still boost that particular stat if youre fighting against something else, but it would be like 1-3 evs for the pokemon you battled and then 7 evs for your battle item in the other stat. Unless things have changed since the DLCs, i remember that working when i was training in the base game
As far as I know, since the beginning of S&V, the EV Training power items only boost the stat if the pokemon you're battling gives that particular stat.
@HappyHillington Went and tested it for you, the battle items do in fact give you 7 for it's specific stat regardless of who you battle. (I was farming hattrems to better my shiny odds and my voltorb with a power anklet is gaining speed evs and spA evs at the same time)
I'm having a weird issue I cannot understand, I maxed out the amount of berries you can give to your pokemon to reset EVs; namely a Timid Charizard. But when I try to max out speed and sp. atk., I'm finding out that if one stat goes over 300 (i.e., Charizard maxing sp.atk at 315), then that stat becomes like 288 when I try to max Speed by feeding it vitamins and feathers. I'm new to competitive battling, so Idk where I am messing things up.
That is a weird situation. Iirc, a Timid nature increases Speed and Lowers Phys Attack, so it shouldn't do anything to your Sp Attack stat at all. Is the mon Lvl 100? If not, maybe just level it up to 100. If it is, then just double check to make sure that the EVs are properly distributed. I've honestly never run into this specific issue before. The stats shouldn't move down as you raise another stat.
@@HappyHillington It's a level 100 Timid Charizard I got from downloading the HOME app on my cellphone. Levelled it to 100 first, then I cleared the non-useful stats with berries and finally I started adding EVs with feathers and vitamins. First, it got Sp.Atk to 315, but when I went and did the same for speed, I noticed Speed went over 300, BUT Sp.Atk had decreased to 288. So, I'm not sure what's up with that.
