The Emergency Period during Indira Gandhi regime is often regarded as dark days of Indian Democracy. But what was the actual reason behind Indira Gandhi proclaiming the emergency of 1975? In this mini-documentary, I go in depth to explain the root causes and reasons behind it. Starting from 1969 and the infamous battle between the legislative and judiciary to pass the privy purse laws and the nationalisation of banks laws.

Judiciary has to be independent in making decisions but it has to be responsible for providing detailed information about its decisions which should make sense and must be beneficiary for the country as a whole No need for any body to be the strongest and especially the justice system because it will rather again create a supreme power But the way judicial system of this country has been struggling feels so painful

It had been going over my mind for the last few days that I didn't know the history of 1975 emergency. It was good to see this video come to the feed today. Gives a decent summary. Hoping to read about the emergency in detail some day in future. Also, I hope you will make a vide on 1977 election, the period between 1977 to 1980 and the reasons why and how Indira came back to power in 1980. It will be interesting to know how the nation's sentiments changed considering the oppression of Emergency.

Emergency was declared on ground on "Internal Disturbance " Not "Internal Rebellion " This term Internal Disturbance was later replaced by "Armed Rebellion" by 44th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1978, as it was too vague and had a wider connotation. It was very heartening to see a recapitulation of the 1975 emergency and the cruel and autocratic rule of Indira Gandhi. The reason that it was heartening was that we all know what happened as a result: Indira Gandhi was toppled, no matter for how long. If it could happen to her, this recap gives us hope that it can happen again today. Perhaps Modi's juggernaut can also be brought to a dead stop by us citizens. We now have the added advantage of being able to communicate freely with the entire world, something which citizens of that time did not have. So there is some hope we can recapture our freedom again !

@DHRUV RATHEE - Kindly make a video about the failure of government to conduct NEET UG, PG and JEE with transparency. This time NEET PG 1. was postponed three times and the date of exam was not confirmed properly on a short note. Government wanted cheap labor during COVID times. They could let the Kumbh Mela happen, but not the NEET PG exam, which was during the same time. Why would they want to spend in salary for doctors? 2. We were told to work for 100 days by our HONORABLE PM also we had to suffer the emotional trauma and study for exams at the same time. 3. Many of us have lost our family and colleagues. No one talks about it. Media doesn't speak about it . 4. It has been a emotional torture, many committed suicide. 5. Above all, people also started violence against doctors. It would be grateful, if you made a video addressing NEET UG, PG and JEE exams. I do not want any other batch to suffer like how we did. Thank you DHRUV

They are both extremely authoritarian. The current government is probably against declaring emergency themselves, mostly because they have been crying about it for a generation. However, you don't need emergency when you can browbeat someone into not working using the ED and other such methods. Also, apparently every person who didn't like PM Gandhi was a CIA stooge.
