4:30 There's also a clip in a different event of a camera man running next to them when they're sprinting and he's keeping up with the leader with full camera gear
Speaking from experince you will definitly get an advantage by taking the time to do a fireman's carry. No friction to battle and less taxing on the hands.
@@kirstybrown1185 no, they were just saying that they weren't allowed to practice with it beforehand. At 1:25:00 they talk about how the only rules were no grabbing the wrists and no grabbing the feet. They even talk about how they think it would be smart to pick him up and carry him, but that no one has tried it yet
Watching this in 2021 (after Horvath had 2nd again) I can definitely say Horvath is one of the main threats to Toomey’s five time championship. If in 2022 Toomey has a slip up, Horvath could take over the podium for first.
I hear you, but don't discard Haylee Adams and Mal O'Brien, those two youngens are getting all the more better. I feel like the more seasoned athletes like Toomey and Horvath has reached their peak. can't wait for the Games of 2022.
@@charmedbychelssea2113lol and then fast forward to 2023 and sure, Tia didn't compete, but, still, Laura got her gold. Now, it's 2024 that I'm excited to see
I very much like how educated these guys are . Not only tough fields to study but also suma cum laude . Very impressive . Well rounded people , smart and healthy .
That irritated me, he did the exact same thing to Fraser in the bike race, kept basically sitting on him and barging into him, like the other guy was with him. He essentially said that he deserves to be treated better than anyone else in the field, after never winning. By his logic, Fraser should have sent him flying on that bike. Or he just has anger issues and has no problem with his own double standard because he wasn't angry when he was doing it. I liked Sagar coming into this season, now I just think he is another run of the mill ex footballer with bitterness about not being good enough in their field while also having had his head rocked so much that he is not all there anymore.
@@kirstybrown1185 Holberg kept cutting off and driving him into the pylons on purpose, he did it atleast 3 times in 10 seconds. Lol. Any competitor would've done the same as Sager did. Sager's response wasn't out of anger, just annoyed at the other's lack of sportsmanship
First time I’ve watched these in many years! Feels so strange not seeing Froning and Dan out there along with some of the other legends. But still cool seeing Panchik, Bridges and others. Anderson was just entering the scene when I stopped paying attention.
@QP froning moved into teams competition although I don't think he even does that. Not sure about Dan. I think it was both. Aged out and was time to move on.
So I take it they can fireman carry? probably just got caught up on the moment and never thought about it, or didnt wanna carry 165 over shoulder. But definitely more effective, specially if you can free that 1 arm so you can swing forward faster.
they were shown the method they are all using and they weren't told specifically if they could use other methods and they were worried they would be penalised after the event so they didn't risk going for the easier carry, cole sager talks about it in some video i think
I have to ask, what there any reason you did happened to mention 2nd or 3rd place in the first run until the black guy was further back? .. Just wondering
46:10 1:27:50 in general, the area (of the dummy) in contact with the ground will not affect friction. however, transferring some weight from the dummy onto the athlete will reduce friction (in an extreme case, lifting the dummy off the ground will reduce it to zero). which is better? depends on the coefficient of friction. on ice, it would be easier to drag the dummy. on dry sand, it would be easier to carry it. this surface is somewhere in between, but i think its closer to ice than sand, so its best to leave as much weight on the ground.
"Efficient" isn't fast, these guys never stopped talking about how to drag and not seeing that everyone's dragging with the energy they have left in the quickest way possible

That is the point of Crossfit, not giving them events they train with year around, it is about constantly evolving. You see "odd objects" as they call them every year, it is a test to make you think out of the box. The point is that you wouldn't have trained this. Like when they bring the bikes, or the ski or row machines, they're all disciplines most won't practice much, if at all. Then there's the new events they have never even had a reason to train. like the peg wall, the freestanding handstand push ups, the higher ropes. They're all to see how they adapt.
S. T. Day 2 and 5th event tough guy. There’s always dome doooosh who could smack around the pro’s as he’s sitting on the couch with a bag of doritos. It’s around 300k to the winner plus endorsements etc, why don’t you jump in and take the money real quick super star?
Of course...another guy who would win it all if he wasn't "disabled". LOL You have no point. But your response clarifies everything for me. My whole life has been dedicated to sports and training, amateur competitive athlete, fitness and nutrition nut, only wishing I could be good enough to make a living at it. Then some guy like you comes along on a blog, running his mouth about how he (and his whole battalion) could win this no problem if it wasn't for 'this bum shoulder'. You just made yourself look like a moron to everybody who actually participates in training and nutrition, today. Not 'back in the day'. You know the director of the games is a former SEAL, participants include SEAL's, Olympic medalists, Div I college athletes, former pro athletes, strong man competitors, gymnasts, every elite type of athlete you could imagine, and most of them can't finish high enough to make the Games. But you, the typical Al Bundy couch pro doesn't understand why this is so easy. You're the guy who comes into my gym, is puking 30 minutes into the workout, and I never see you again. If you don't like this type of sport or training, don't watch. Or if you haven't experienced this type of training and physical challenge, try it before you make idiotic statements, Champ.
