I was very happy to see that sponsor. It is a pretty solid app and it's fitting for this channel. Just need raid shaddow thing to tee up now. Man deserves his money.
Feel like if this channel pivoted into solely Jungian content it would still get a shit ton of traffic (and this is probably just me projecting my fantasies)
This is why I watch Jordan Peterson's lectures. His classes tended to sound like marketing campaigns for Viktor Frankl Solzhenitsyn and of course Jung.
Fantastic! I highly recommend Man and His Symbols. An excellent introduction to Carl Jung and analytical psychology. Part I. Approaching the Unconscious - Carl G. Jung Part II. Ancient Myths and Modern Man - Joseph L. Henderson Part III. The Process of Individuation - M.L. von Franz Part IV. Symbolism in the Visual Arts - Aniela Jaffé Part V. Symbols in an Individual Analysis - Jolande Jacobi
@raspian101 I truly disagree. If you look at his ideas, they were developed only with intense scrutiny and proof. Proof in the psychic dimension, the mythic dimension, is most profound when qualitative. Scientific methods and procedure has not caught up with the depth of the work Jung conducted.
I feel like the message of Jung is needed by this world right now more than ever. Everything is so disjointed from each other and not until we learn to rejoin ourselves would we even begin to scratch the surface of rejoining the world. Good job man!
Said this to my grandma yesterday in a lighthearted way. Completely shut down the emotional (anger/stress) frenzy she was in and put a smile on her face.
Here's an exercise in advanced thinking: Jung broke the "4th wall" of reality itself and now stand behind the curtains of the collective pyschic cognition, that is to say Carl Jung himself has become an archetype, in the order of Elijah, ministering and guiding young initiates of his school.
While I would say that is a fascinating concept in some ways, it is not entirely accurate. It is not to say that that Archetype may not exist, but that it likely existed already. Keep in mind that Jung wasn't the only one to have or even produce such thoughts. Much of his work is a direct reflection of the time he took researching the Occult Spiritual traditions of Alchemy. Many of his ideas are more modernized versions of the Esoteric/Internal Alchemical process, especially the fusing of the Desperate parts of one's consciousness to make oneself whole. Likely the Archetype you spoke of existed within every Alchemist before him, and after. Its simply that he was what brought these concepts from the Hidden corners of our Collective Knowledge, into the light.
I can’t tell you what is actually going on in the mind, but from my experience what Carl jung is talking about feels real. Maybe not the specific mechanisms behind the process, but going through it felt very much like what he explains in this video.
So-shu dreamed, and having dreamed he was a bird, a bee and a butterfly, he was uncertain why he should try to feel like anything else. Hence, his contentment - Ezra Pound
Man, i'm glad I found your channel, i was thinking about this last week, and how i wanted to truly know myself, feels good to know someone else had that idea and wrote their analysis for many of us to read. I feel better now

me: a Sisyphus 55 podcast should be started, yes? crowd of philosophy nerds such as myself: yes, yesssssss lol, nevermind found the podcast… its great :)
Great video! I’m being reading Jung for a few years now and some Joseph Campbell videos. Jung has helped me rebalance myself these past years. And now, talking to me family or friends about the great analytical psychologist to more understand themselves, they look at me funny or just plain dismisses. Anyway, keep the videos coming :)
It's not "Jung's process of Individuation". Individuation is spiritual awakening and is also known as kundalini awakening and Self Realization. It is an arduous and extremely agonizing process that takes decades to complete. It took me roughly 25 years just to purge and integrate my unconscious. The shadow is not a real entity. It is temporary and consists of repressed instincts, emotions, feelings, and complexes. The Self Realization process purges all darkness from a person.
i wished my first language was english cuz i don't understand what he is say and to process it immediately. Btw thanks for tell about the things that people left for us🙂🙂🙂🙂
The timing of this video could not have been better. Thank you very much! Can you recommend any first hand sources which further discuss the topic of Individuation? Did Carl Jung write essays or books about it?
My boy Carl wrote a lot of books and essays which have been compiled together. In some ways they're easy to read, and really hard to read in other ways.
I guess perhaps the weird side of myself is a shadow of some sorts, but then again, I have more than one side of myself that seems to have that first shadow as its shadow. Or something like that. Unless perhaps I have a weird "shadow" and that weird side switching thing is either another shadow or something else entirtely. Maybe I have multiple shadows whose shadows are my other shadows, which would mean I have some issue with myself or something. Or, they're all one shadow. Or maybe not, they're very different from each other so probably not. Or maybe yes.
right? for me this was good timing and is making me think deeper about myself. i hope your journey truly helps you find whatever you’re looking for man
I think by trying to analyse the subconscious we only create a selffullfilling prophecy, which doesnt really represent our true self. Instead we just should focus on our day to day deeds. What I also dont get is how we're supposed to become our true selfes when we consist of multiple parts opposing each other.
or maybe dictate more or open your mouth more when you're talking, i can't understand the words fully, it would help a lot if you did, love your channel
It is too bad that Jung built his ideology on Freudianism. It's foundation is unstable and unsound. It is also why it was so ridiculous the Jordan Peterson vs Ziziek debate. It was a Jungian vs a Lacanian.
@@TheHexbugfan It is Freud's theory that is unsound. His whole ideology is based around the idea that all things are based upon unconscious psychological constructions and the giving credence or importance to these constructions result in neurosis. Jung you could argue is a reformer, as his ideology is basically based on the same thing, except giving credence or importance to the constructions does not result in neurosis.
this video is fricken cool and cool and this video is fricken cool and fricken cool and cool and this video is cool and fricken cool and this video is fricken cool
i think it may be that the only good universities are those that value thought and mind, and have a curriculum based on discussion (and great books, even) than standardized tests and lectures. (i. e., im looking at St. John's, which saved me from making a superficial choice in colleges)
@@crow775 I think the reason is that academic psychology has considerably neglected the "psyche" in "psychology", due to heavy weighting on observable behaviour and superficialities to explain complex, unobservable phenomena of the mind - if at all
It wholly depends on what university you attend. I’ve been very satisfied with the variety of psych classes my university offers, you might just have to look around and find a institution that works best for you
@@crow775 you're right ^^ Actually, after starting /stopping so many times, I camento the conclusion that academic studies require not only the right dispositions but also mindset and expectations toward what subjects will be brought up, how, what purpose. And this I definitely lacked fully, understanding the purpose I mean. It somehow killed my curiosity and interest for psychilogy at the time. But there are so many ways to learn and improve oneself, so in the end I'm fine with just browsing here from time to time.
I believe reality is a dream, and this unfalsifiable notion, while useless and existentially pointless to one who glances, when everything is an archetype; the world is to be decoded. Coincidences become puzzles and new friends become destiny. It's beautiful, but admittedly insane. Whatever
please invert on a good mic, i love your videos but i have adhd and i can't concentrate completely, so when i have to focus to understand what your saying i just loose all focus. ofc ik that you do your best, this is just a tip, you decide if you take it or not, either way i love the ideas of your videos :)
Why not take the audio and run it through a some kind of a distortion or some other filter(s). What about bad speakers, background noise or put something infront of the speakers to get worse quality. Sky is the limit. (Dont know anything about adhd)
“The Anima and Animus opposing masculine and feminine forces within the conscious. The anima is the perception based feminine unconscious in men. The animus is the judgement based masculine unconscious in women” Although he introduced more acceptance of ‘outside the gender standard’ activity, the binary essentialism is understandably gross considering the influence of culture on Jung, back to the drawing board time
It is gross TO YOU. If you ever want to grow as a person you need to throw off constructivist manacles and let yourself see what is reality and what is fiction. Just because something comes in a pair does not inherently make it bad.
