I have a different board, its a lot thicker and has stoppers on the bottom of the board at the fron and the back. Is there a difference?

My only recommendation is that he wear wrist guards so that he won't break his wrist if he falls. Keeping in mind that he will stop his fall with his hands, and that is how a wrist can get broken.
