This is a neccesity both in the political and economical spectrum . It's pricey ?? Off freaking course .... Creating city out of nothing surely will cost a fortune and helliish effort . But , the nationhood building process are demanding it . To spread the wealth and progress to the outer islands not only java alone . In general, I agree, except for one thing: did anyone actually do those calculations? cost vs benefit? I mean if the same money had been invested in education or other infrastructure, then GDP would have grown further, and with those returns, this project could have been funded faster on its own. There doesn’t appear to be any controls on this thing: they have built too many roads that were not needed when things could have been phased over time as demand arose. There are legitimate criticisms people are making that shouldn’t be discounted or dismissed, although I agree the basic idea had some merit, and what has been built is both impressive and beautiful.

We have to calculates and predicts what would be the possibilites in the span of 20-50 years ahead of us . If you care to notice ....even with all the said excess in roads construction ...every junction and line were given an extra spaces for a future upgrades or possibilities . In my honest opinion ...with all the constructed buildings and roads . They only at the barebones for the basic neccesity availability for any of the modern city to be operational without much of disturbances and problems to hampers the governing works or processing . 🙏

Acquisition up front may have been important but there was no need to build all the roads at once. Money saved on roads could have been spent elsewhere, eg. on the first phase or even on some other vitally important programs elsewhere in the country. There are examples of large scale projects all over the world where roads are built and development comes so much later that the roads actually have to be redone again before they are needed. That is wasted capital and operations/maintenance expense. My point is: western media is certainly misinformed and biased, and any project of this size attracts all sorts of naysayers both local and foreign. However, not ALL the criticisms are without merit. Some of the mistakes made are the direct result of a fast paced process without much checks and balances, and without much input from economists or investors. Everyone keeps saying it was planned for decades, but the rush and chaos of the last 5 years implies otherwise. The truth will eventually come out, and it’s only natural that people will question the process, the decisions, and the results and try to learn from the experience. It’s only natural in a democracy. Don’t make the mistakes that China has. Indonesia might be able to afford one new city, even one with some excesses, but there is danger in thinking this is a model that is repeatable elsewhere without consequences, which can be devastating for regular people. It may seem abstract and is certainly difficult to quantify, but the suffering can be real and should not be discounted. Of course, there is intangible value in a project that generates national pride too. Everyone involved in this thing has their fingers crossed, and a knot in their stomach, trust me.

High speed train operational cost is getting subsidised by taxpayer money, without it the cost for lowest ticket price will be 400k rupiah which mean far more expensive than normal train which cost around 100-200k no one will chose high speed train. Tukang ngibul sejati emang🤣 sdm 78 lagi mengkhayal kalo beneran jadi negara maju melebihi singapura karena framing dan pemHODOBan media lokal san buzzer. Media asing yg ga dapat diintervensi sama penerintah langsung diserang sama buzzer. Padahal yg diberitakan penyeimbang berita.
