Induction heating is a non-contact heating process. (Heat treatment). With this method, electrically conductive metals, carbon-based materials are heated precisely and precisely using high-frequency electricity. Plastic materials cannot be heated by induction. Since the heating process is non-contact, no warping, staining or deterioration occurs in the heated materials. Since the heat is produced inside the material, the energy efficiency is very high. It is used in material processing applications in the automotive and aerospace industries and in various engineering fields.
Discovered by Michael Faraday, induction begins with a coil made of conductive material (such as copper). As current flows through the coil, a magnetic field is created in and around the coil. The ability of the magnetic field to do work depends on the coil design and the amount of current flowing through the coil.
The direction of the magnetic field depends on the direction of current flow; therefore, alternating current flowing through the coil will cause the magnetic field direction to change at the same rate as the alternating current frequency. 60Hz AC current causes the magnetic field to change direction 60 times in one second. 400kHz AC current causes the magnetic field to change direction 400,000 times in one second.
