Car Type: New York City Subway R142A, R143, R188
(The sound used in this video is from R143.)
Traction: ADTranz/Bombardier 2-Level IGBT-VVVF
PWM Pattern:
Asynchronous (250 Hz - 500 Hz) → Advanced PWM (2 Steps) → 3P → Wide 3P → 1P
Sound Characteristics:
These cars have a type of sound often heard in traction systems for the U.S. market, manufactured between the transition from ADtranz to Bombardier. Basically, it is the same as the MBTA Type 8 cars (which I posted last time), and the advanced pulse modes numbered (1) and (2) in this video also correspond to those in the previous video.

However, for NYC Subway cars, there is a momentary interruption in the early stages of asynchronous modulation where the carrier frequency rises. All car models had this kind of behavior every time during the recording. This is a behavior that cannot be seen in other manufacturers' traction system, but what kind of control is being performed here?
* The AC traction PWM sound shown in this video is recorded by a sensor which is placed on the floor of a train car near its traction motor. This sensor is made by myself just using a 100mH inductor.
* Due to the resolution of the spectrogram software, the frequency displayed in this video may include some error. Thank you for your understanding.
* This sound is recorded in March 2019.
* Sorry, I am NOT taking requests for recordings.
